Was really good to be out with these folk for a bit yesterday, and really emotive to see some of the messages from the mass lobby up on the big screen

Just watched a little dog end up up to her (very floppy) ears in mud and sand from jumping straight in the deepest part of some tide pools. Much to the dismay of her owners, who presumably just added 'bath time' onto their Sunday to do list.

If you are an organisation that (at least ostensibly) serves the public, and your news articles are written at a university-level reading level, that says a lot about which bits of the public you really think you are for, and should be interested in your work.

Bittersweet milestones - our 2020 article "TERF Wars: An Introduction", published in @thesociologicalreview.org, just hit 600 citations on Google Scholar, and has over 100,000 views. I would love for it to become irrelevant. However, given the state of the world, I'm grateful it remains useful.

Trans people are brought up (blamed) in the very first paragraph of this seemingly unrelated article. Ableism and transhobia continue to go hand in hand.

Nah mate 8 minutes minimum connection time at Newcastle is having a laugh Petition to introduce a reduced-mobility-but-not-enough for-passenger-assistance connection time for the railways because some of these minimums are impossible if you remember lifts exist.

Are you global majority? Are you queer? Then get to this tomorrow. AUTONOMOUS ZONE At Granby Winter Garden, L8 2UW
Poster contains a depiction of an orange stage floor, behind it a red brick wall which seems to be hanging a trans symbol and lesbian Labrys, sandwiched between this is a microphone. The curtain to the left of the stage is depicted with a Roma flag and on the right the Progress flag. Text at the top says "Autonomous Zone, A Queer Global Majority open mic night" and at the bottom "Where? 04/09/2026. Friday, the 4th of September 5:30pm - 8pm. Where? Granby Winter Gardens L8 2UW. Wheelchair accessible, Gender neutral toilets". Art is subjective, in my subjective opinion this artwork is breathtaking and the artist did an incredible job

I think this follows for a lot of international/US vs UK healthcare comparisons tbh - an insuranced based system might get access to a better range of treatments for people with healthy support people, stable well paid employment, and good insurance, and destroys the health of many without those

Vic Stamp @vickerystamp.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Look whether access to trans healthcare is easier or more difficult in the US vs UK is a complex question that often seems to vary by individual, but about the one thing we can say is the situation for trans people in the US is definitely not improved by having a private, insurance-based system?

Thinking about the trans woman whose mother went to the press in this Welsh Gender Service bullshit. Like it's horrific that this woman's healthcare and bodily autonomy have been disrupted like this because her mother feels entitled to exercise cobtrol over her body like this.

This is the most fucked up and immediately harmful policy decision I think I've ever seen in adult trans healthcare in the UK, and that's saying something. The Welsh Gender Service is one of the best in the country. It is widely praised by the patients it helps. That is why it is being targeted.

Once again struck about the Welsh Gender Service surgery cancellations by how for one of the largest safety-critical systems in the country, the NHS has so little (systems) safety culture. Mass cancelling surgeries, elective or otherwise, at no notice should so clearly be a critical incident.

I really feel like violability (the question of who it is allowable to harm) is at the core of like 90% of public discourse shitshows. The press identifies somebody as okay to destroy (Jason Arday, Beth Upton, Mridul Wadhwa) and just relentlessly attacks.

I can't find the post now but saw many people correcting Stock's grim Unherd article referring to ADHD, autism, dyspraxia etc. as intellectual disabilities, and while that's an accurate criticism, people with learning disabilities/intellectual impairments absolutely belong in academia & research!

This is a good policy all round, whatever the motivation and I'm very glad to see it rolled out nationally. At the same time it strikes me that it's a policy that benefits the 'work as a universal good' narrative and goals to get disabled people into work. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

In this moment of heightened anti-trans backlash, it is important to remember that the systemic abuse and erasure of intersex people never went away. To build real coalitions against segregation in schools, sports, and hospitals, it is vital we work to really understand and fight for one another.

Seeing Instagram posts about the Code of Practice which are literally just misinformation. If you don't have specific policy expertise in this area, you shouldn't be making resources for the community claiming you understand what it means. Because what you are putting out is wrong.

As I've said since the beginning of this nightmare, transphobia is inextricable from ableism. They are the same mechanism producing the same results for the same reason. Any disabled people throwing their lot in with transphobes are sowing the seeds of their own destruction.
screenshot of a times Facebook post advertising an article by Kathleen Stock (famous transphobe), titled 'Why are young women using walking sticks?' the blurb reads '"This week a video went viral of a young woman in a wheelchair at a train station, filming the laborious attempts of staff to get her chair up some stairs after the lift failed. Towards the end of the video, somewhat unexpectedly, she gets out of her chair and walks upstairs herself, saying she "had a bit of energy that day" so could do it. In another video, she films herself putting on roller skates before pushing off from her wheelchair and skating happily away, Lazarus-like. Even severely debilitating physical conditions produce good days as well as bad. On some bad days, a person may need extra help. But when a disproportionate number of young women are insisting this applies, we need to find out what is going on. Why do Gen Z females, apparently unlike every generation before them, have strangely unstable bodies that intermittently require support?""

A more general point but people are also bad at thinking about how risk works. Something can have turned out to be unnecessary or even harmful and still have been the correct decision based on the information you had. Results do not prove the quality or otherwise of your decision-making.

Saying this is tied to "sex at birth" is absurd. The consequences will be to drive trans people away from interacting with systems that use this model, opening them up to discrimination at every turn, degrading quality of health care, and iatrogenic harms both psychological and physical.
