This is what we are up against. It’s why I’ve always said the under 16 social media ban doesn’t go far enough. We shouldn’t be banning it for children, we should be properly regulating it for everyone. This is scary. How do we fight this?

‘India is, admittedly, a baffling place. Not even those who have lived in it … can claim to understand it. Yet a good way to approach it is with humility. Xuanzang walked thousands of miles to partake in its treasures. Foreign researchers can start the journey simply by opening their minds.’

🚨BREAKING🚨 In more serious news, I have been told on good authority by a third source that Flemish media has revealed the racist academic, de Vries, is the real author behind the pseudonymous article, 'Refugees’ IQs are Normatively Consequential' Thank you to all the sources that contacted me
Refugees’ IQs are Normatively Consequential
Tavren Oshal (pseudonym)

Abstract: Responding to an article by Rindermann et al. (2024), which reports that refugees in Germany, on average, have significantly lower intelligence than the German host population, Bradley Hillier-Smith has argued that such cognitive disparities – if they exist – are irrelevant to states’ moral duties toward refugees. This article challenges his position. It further contends that even if we adopt a cosmopolitan perspective that denies states the right to prioritize the interests of their own populations, it is not clear that states in the Global North are morally required – or even permitted – to admit large numbers of relatively low-IQ refugees from the Global South. This, I show, is especially true given that assistance could instead take the form of supporting their relocation to a safe country within the region.
Keywords: refugees; migration; intelligence; hereditarianism; innovation; Global South; nationalism; cosmopolitanism

Thanks for agreeing it’s wrong. Doing something wrong isn’t ‘understandable’. Isn’t that why they reported on Arday? Don’t rules exist for them? They don’t get to do whatever they want to sell newspapers. News is for reporting, not commoditising. That’s crossing a line, that’s not ‘understandable’.

V.H. Belvadi @vhbelvadi.com · 18/08/2026
You’re misrepresenting my point. The media can report on everything, but they have no cause for piling on the way they did, or reporting with the vileness they showed. They need to show decency and humanity. And the ‘world’s attention’ was captured in part because the media made a spectacle of it.

You’re being willingly blind to the media’s behaviour if, after all the evidence I’ve given you, you still think the media isn’t to blame, nor vile racists who used this as a means to their own ill-advised ends.

V.H. Belvadi @vhbelvadi.com · 17/08/2026
Are you suggesting that someone lying about something justifies a media pile on? For lies so obvious the media can disregard it and turn to more pressing matters. Proper reporting on Arday would’ve affected few people, if at all, and mostly affected the man himself. It was all for no public benefit.

V.H. Belvadi @vhbelvadi.com · 17/08/2026
(Cont’d) Framing this as a demand to let Arday’s plagiarism slide is misrepresenting the calls for public enquiry. I can’t see how someone doesn’t comprehend that, so I repeat: nobody cares that the media reported on his plagiarism, we do care how they did it and everything else around it.

R.I.P. Jason Arday (1985-2026)
Jason Arday, pictured in 2023 I read the terrible news about the death of Jason Arday on Friday evening. The first thing I want to do is express heartfelt condolences to his family – especial…

V.H. Belvadi @vhbelvadi.com · 17/08/2026
(Cont’d) As @ketanjoshi.co notes the coverage was unprecedented, and for what? Anyone with sense can tell there’s been a racially-motivated ballooning of coverage in this case. An investigation can formally declare that – or prove otherwise – and I welcome that outcome. (Cont’d)
100
V.H. Belvadi @vhbelvadi.com · 17/08/2026
(Cont’d) Third, I’m more interested – as this investigation should be if it ever happens – in the manner in which the media hounded Arday. It was disproportionate and unnecessary, it was vile in tone, and new reporting rarely added much anew to the story. (Cont’d)
100
V.H. Belvadi @vhbelvadi.com · 17/08/2026
I’ve noticed a lot of people frame this argument disingenuously as ‘exposing his lies’. First of all, I don’t think anyone is against plagiarism being uncovered. Second, plagiarism isn’t new and others who have plagiarised haven’t received nearly the same kind of media exposure. (Cont’d)
