iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

This is nonsense. Bluey is Bluey for adults.

"Best" is a subjective reference that is used to drive conversation (or clicks) rather than be an accurate assessment (which is really not possible for art). Take #1 - I can't get past the second episode, I despise it that much. But Psych is in my top 5 and I will rewatch the entire thing yearly.

Grand. Thanks.

Does this lead directly off of Vol 4? Or are there issues I'd need to grab in between?

England were terrible against Scotland last week. Somehow they are even worse against Ireland. They can't even complete fundamentals and Ford is once more lacking.

010

Ves @vesdba.me · 18/02/2026

Yeah, that's a huge part of it too. All the rural build out money went to starlink as the government rewrote the project funding criteria to basically eliminate any chance of another company possibly winning a bid. It's not talked about much, sadly.

Ves @vesdba.me · 18/02/2026

Cost break even often decides whether they'll actually run fiber. It's also possible they got government money to trench and duct and that's all they needed to do for it.

110

Ves @vesdba.me · 18/02/2026

Same here. We're going to go to the HOA and see if we can get an approval and then a portion of the neighborhood to sign up for fiber as an alternative.

Comcast with a nothing sentence that doesn't even make sense, 6 hours into an outage: "Your Xfinity service interruption should be resolved as soon as possible"

Paraphrasing why my flight isn't boarding yet "shitters broke"

Photo from national lampoons Christmas vacation where cousins Eddie stands in the snow wearing a short cloth bath robe, socks, and shoes.. I'm the movie he's saying "shitters full" which relates to the RV he's been traveling in.

I think I shall rent my car from American Megatrends

Photo of car rental booths. On the left, Budget and on the right Avis. Between their computerized signs is a bios screen for ami American Megatrends. Probably a computer behind the scenes is having boot issues.

I'm rapidly starting to come to the conclusion there's no ethical way to engage in online discourse or even consume media. That said, Zuckerberg is one of the people at the peak of the "nope" iceberg.

Are there places that don't remove the scent or that add a different scent?

100

Ves @vesdba.me · 13/02/2026

The packaging of my toilet paper says it's unscented. This tells me that somewhere there is scented toilet paper.

I guess there's an AWS issue because Alaska Airlines can't board people.

I have mostly decoupled my ebook purchases from Amazon (despite the many steps it takes to get books on to my kindle). Now I'm stuck where some authors, whose work I get often, that only publish via Amazon. Either I stop reading them or continue with a kindle and cumbersome process.

Did Star Trek: Starfleet Academy just eliminate the Star Trek comic books as cannon?

I feel so bad for her. She's just trying her best and everything turns to hell around her. Everything she touches causes pain. And none of it her fault.

I learned the other day that mouthwash has "no theraputic properties" and that it can cause tartar build up and staining. My hygenist told me to stop using it. I looked at the dentist, somewhat aghast. She backed her up. Big mouthwash is lying to us.

You'll get a finger bruise tapping that sign. You should have some function that does a check on MS cloud resources that then calls to a mechanical device to tap the sign. For obvious reasons, you would run that function in AWS.

My January 2026 reading was 9 books (3050 pages) with an average rating of 4.31. Related - why is nobody filming the Bloodsworn trilogy by John Gwynne as an epic TV fantasy? #booksky

Image showing books read in January 2026 including their rating.

There are 9 books - three of them from the Bloodsworn Trilogy by John Gwynne and the others Fantastic Four TBPs.

Shadow of the Gods (Gwynne) - 5.0
Hunger of the Gods (Gwynne) - 5.0
Fury of the Gods (Gwynne) - 4.75

Fantastic Four (all Ryan North) - 4.0 for each

From Wikipedia - The Athletic reported in 2024, the Rangers retained a law firm to investigate a former team employee's allegation that Panarin sexually assaulted her. Panarin & MSG Sports, paid settlements to the former employee without admission of wrongdoing. Terms of the settlement included a NDA

Oh no, I was not going after haggis. It's a fine food. I'd happily eat it as part of breakfast.

Opinion - permissions in databases should be provided to application roles. Creating the roles comes with code deployment. After the event, DBAs should add the relevant logins to the roles - this can be done via private repo using anything from sqlcmd to ado depending on the use case.

Microsoft and their shitty acronym reuse is completely orthogonal to any ability to get things done in a simple and cohesive manner.

I spent the weekend moving from Windows to Ubuntu on my personal laptop. I'm partially done - lots of software I've yet to get functioning. Why does the Ubuntu GUI still look it did in 2000? It is ugly and not particularly functional. I'm considering Mint but that would be another few days spent.

010

Ves @vesdba.me · 02/02/2026

The best way I can describe it is that I thought it was meant to be a Trek show and not a CW drama.

I've used Windows since it became a thing and used DOS before that. Other than briefly needing to use OS/2, I've run everything Windows. There are so many issues with it now (MS caused) that I decided to move my personal laptop to Linux and see how things went.
