thinking of starting a book club that's just called unfuck your brain and it's me reading nonfiction books that, while perhaps somewhat boring, will be enriching for the doomscroll-happy ooze that has replaced my brain

this take is completely half-baked and only based on instinct but do we think there's a little house on the prairie to cozy fantasy pipeline because while I remember some non-cozy plot stuff from those books, I mostly think I read them to immerse myself in a kind of domestic routine?

And listen, I don't feel bad. She started the conversation by basically acknowledging she'd been looking over my shoulder during the flight. FAFO, LADY

Slightly awkward plane chat the other day-- Lady: are you a writer? Me: ...yes Lady: what do you write? Me: science fiction and fantasy Lady: oh, science fiction-- do you write about AI? Me: no, I mostly try to pretend AI doesn't exist, to be honest. She, of course, worked for an AI company.

ohhhhh I think you get SOME of the credit for basically inventing a language and writing a great book! (Though that is not to diminish the wonderful performances, of course.)

such a good audiobook— both performances and the book itself, obvs.

I was much happier when he had the yips and was double faulting his way to obscurity (that's probably an exaggeration but he definitely lost more often)

I have set up the heating pad for the pup and really, this is a gift to both of us.

a small, fuzzy gray and white dog lying on top of a cushion that has a heating pad on it. She has the bleary eyes of an elderly dog but she is obviously still a baby. All her legs are bundled together.

the picture of the same cushions, same heating pad, same pup, but I'm just looking at the back of her (extremely relaxed) fuzzy head.

thank you! And that's a good warning. I don't drink coffee, ever, so the odds of me encountering fake decaf are pretty low, but I'm now realizing I'll need to be a little careful about *chocolate*

I think Oreos and Ritz crackers are more fragile than they used to be or perhaps I have become VERY strong

I was given the sacred taste of drawing to-scale Four and Tris for the Sixth Faction book tour and promotion so they could be turned into standees. It almost blew my CPU into outerspace even drawing them at 1/3 scale but I would do anything for My Children.

15 years as of tomorrow. If you’re going to get married, I very much recommend finding someone you’re excited to meet fifteen different versions of because you know they’re all going to be awesome.
