⭐️ Starred reviews for THE SIXTH FACTION! I have too many feelings right now.
"(Roth's) writing is more mature and emotionally layered, giving Beatrice, Four, and the faction system greater depth while maintaining the action, romantic tension, and urgency that made the original series so compelling.
Familiar yet genuinely unpredictable, this exciting series opener should satisfy longtime Divergent fans while inviting a new generation to choose their faction."

- Booklist Starred Review for
THE SIXTH FACTION"This exciting work revisits beloved characters, offering a new understanding of them and of what happens when we stand up and ask questions. Returning fans and those new to this world will appreciate the witty banter, slow-burn romance, and heartache stemming from betrayal and complicated familial love.'
"
"Both entertaining and well-written; demands and holds readers' attention."

I have set up the heating pad for the pup and really, this is a gift to both of us.

All her legs are bundled together.the picture of the same cushions, same heating pad, same pup, but I'm just looking at the back of her (extremely relaxed) fuzzy head.

oddly reassured (? not the right word but you get it) by this quote from Lilly Wachowski about the right's claiming of The Matrix, given some of the Divergent misinterpretations I've encountered over the last fifteen years variety.com/2025/film/ne...
screenshot of this text: "she said she's unsurprised the right has latched on to the film since 'right-wing ideology appropriates absolutely everything.' She added, 'They appropriate left-wing points of view and they mutate them for their own propaganda, for their own to obfuscate what the real message is. This is what fascism does. And so, of course, that's going to happen."

Convincing you to read my novel(la) with the first sentence (okay, paragraph and a half.) This is from TO CLUTCH A RAZOR.
photo of a book open to its first chapter. Text reads: "Baba Jaga tugs the curtain back from the window with
a gnarled hand. The reflection of the sun on the river is
sharp as a knife. It cuts at her and she lets the curtain fall
again.
Centuries of life have taught her there are certain pat-
terns. Not just in other people's behavior, but in her own.
She falls into them without meaning to, and her body
knows it before she does, remembering its old shapes."

I looked up "ghouls" and what do you know
an artistic landscape of a horde of ghouls seething over a skull-studded landscape, with a block of text beneath it that reads:

"The ghouls of the Flesh-eater Courts believe themselves to be noble warriors from a bygone age. To them, rags of flesh are gleaming pennants, clutched bones serve as master-worked swords and heaps of spoiled meat form fresh and well-prepared feasts fit for royalty. Unfortunately for the Mortal Realms, this delusion cuts both ways – they see all others as invaders and usurpers who threaten their kingdoms."

When people ask me what I think about using AI in writing I’m going to send them this screenshot
A screenshot of a post that reads David Simon, creator of *The Wire*, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro, NPR

And then a screenshot of a conversation that goes like this:

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.
