Picked Arc Raiders back up last night, had an absolute blast. Hopeful for the PvE mode they may have coming too? I don’t hate the way their PvP is tuned but the game screams to me the potential to be a Destiny-like. Also enjoying dune awakening a lot on a private server - built a nice endgame base.

Holy shit the books for the memento mori rpg are beautiful. I will almost certainly never run this, but its so perfect for my habit of collecting rpg books for their rich narratives and world building ideas as much as with any intent to ever run the game.

Huh, that blizzcon was neat. World of Warcraft was always something I'd bounced off of, so a pure nostalgia play does nothing for me. Diablo 5...feels like a hail mary for a franchise that has fucked this up too many times to count. Really the only thing I cared about was HotS coming back...

Two complete short stories. Sixteen what I call “fragments” - where inspiration struck me and I wrote down a scene or part of one with hopes to grow it out into a story later. A third documentary style short story inspired by the documentary format of “world war z”. Feels good to write.

Is it weird that trying to see if Ai could write or even edit my writing drove me mad with such frustration that it motivated me to just write again myself? Man. Deep in the endgame of Path of Exile 2 and now I get why Preach loves this game. The build crafting is exquisite. And unlike the first game this one makes it very easy to experiment and evolve over time. It’d not for everyone I’m sure but I’m having a blast, especially after D4 bored me.

It is weird to me how big of a thing White Wolf RPGs were for me growing up in the 90s and early 2000s and how utterly forgotten they mostly are except to millennials like me today even as despite Hasbros best efforts DnD remains relevant and tabletop rpgs remain strong.

Enjoying path of exile 2 endgame. Enjoying Dune awakening again. Sins of a solar empire 2 is just absolutely great. Taking a break from Star citizen as it shits the bed on regular cadence again. Also need to remember how to/if I can port my FFXIV ui from PC to switch2. I really don’t want to redo it

I really recommend the 2022 documentary “It’s Quieter in the Twilight,” which profiles the scientists working in relative obscurity to keep the Voyager spacecraft operating—many of them past retirement age, but unwilling to quit until the Voyagers do. It was very sweet and thought-provoking.

Today is the day on which Ray Bradbury's “There Will Come Soft Rains” (pub'd 1950) takes place. It’s a short elegaic story about a smart home slowly dying after its owners are wiped out in a nuclear extinction event. Re-reading it now, I’m feeling softly sucker-punched by what it has to offer us.

Continue to be very excited for FFXIV Evercold. I’m catching up on fan fest so far since I woke up late but very excited to see more about the new gameplay/jobs mode. If it plays well on my switch with that that may become my preferred platform for 14 which feels so strange to say about an mmo.

I never got into Star Trek online, the gameplay didn’t click with me. But I appreciate them keeping the torch alive for a range of Star treks beautiful ship art styles. I’m not a purist - I appreciate a lot of the styles over the years. But the ds9/tng/voy era has a special place in my heart.

Back playing dune awakening for the first time since launch. This time on a private server. This is how the game should have launched. Not sure if the public servers feel this good too but there’s an actual endgame now, no longer has forced PvP, and just had a lot of content at the endgame.

I do love Lancer as an original kickstarter backer. I think it’s a bit too “light” for gameplay outside of the mechs but the mechs are truly delightful and even the lighter mechanics on foot are intentional design you may be fine with, rather than a mistake.

Did what is basically a raid in Star Citizen last night last night and it’s some of the best fun I’ve had in an MMO outside Destiny or FF14. Also classic Star Citizen frustration with bugs blocking leaving my home station with a new ship after dying to rejoin the fight and needing to hitch a ride.

I've learned I don't hate exercise, I hate boring exercise. Spent all weekend on a giant home project, and I was exhausted and sweaty but felt like I'd achieved something and while doing it didn't mind the sore muscles and tiredness. Gotta find more things to do I guess lol.

I know this wasn't everyone's cup of tea, and the endgame they launched with was utterly terrible (notice how desperately they're walking it back). But I do want this game to survive, it really is a genuinely great Dune experience while leveling, and I may stand up a private server soon for it.
