Beautiful launch, but still very disappointed that we never got off the wait list to attend the launch :(

A new set of eyes is heading for the cosmos! 🚀🔭 Congrats to NASA, Space Telescope Science Institute (our sister org in AURA Astronomy), and all on the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope! 🎉 NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory and Roman together will give us complementary views of the cosmos🌟

Only 350 days left until the first Trojan asteroid flyby! Go Lucy! (btw I don't think those are shape, color, or composition predictions 😜) 🚀🛰️📡

Today, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope leaves NASA Goddard for the Port of Baltimore to begin its journey to the Kennedy Space Center. This August, Roman will launch into space, broadening our understanding of our solar system & universe. Excited to see it on the move!

This about sums it up. #history

Yet those who do study history are doomed to stand by helplessly while everyone else repeats it."

Yes, APO does public events, but I don't think they run APOLLO during those events. APOLLO requires a well-coordinated 'dance' with aircraft spotters, the FAA, etc. before firing the lasers at the Moon.

Apache Point Observatory (APO) runs their APOLLO program every lunation... bouncing lasers off the Apollo retroreflectors. Has been doing this for years (decades, probably)...

Feeling a little sheepish 🐑🏗️ Shaun the Sheep sat in front of the iconic Vehicle Assembly Building earlier today, where the Space Launch System, with Orion and its European Service Module on top, were stacked 🚀 Big rocket, big teamwork 🌍🤝

Just happened to be on the list of events visible from our house on the night of the 28th. We observe all occultations feasible with a 40-cm aperture every night, weather-permitting (Automated observations, of course.) 🔭

More observers just found out that their data were harvested and analyzed without being contacted. They are not happy. Plans to get more data from upcoming events are now scrapped, due to the behavior of these authors.

Quite unfortunate that the author(s) did not offer co-authorship to the observers who actually took the critical data for this paper.
