Aniplex es el que manda a Crunchyroll ademas de Sony Pictures. El asunto es que Aniplex Japon y America estan cruzados de en terminos de negocio. Crunchyroll queda en medio y despues del exito de Demon Slayer, exige doblaje en Ingles para justificar el gasto de lanzamiento en cines in EU.

Aniplex en Japon no quiere ni pensar en doblaje cuando ni se ha fijado fecha del Blu-Ray en Japon, y aun las fechas de cine en Europa no se han completado. Crunchyroll pidiendo doblaje en Ingles para sus fechas ademas de distribucion es porque no va haber fecha hasta 2027.

Es un poco mas complicado, porque mas que nada el asunto es que Aniplex en Japon y en America tienen entendido y acordado que el gasto de distribuir y lanzar la pelicula en EU es un gasto mayor cuando Japon quiere distribucion asi como esta subtitulado, y Crunchyroll pide el gasto de doblaje.

It wasn't piracy or lack of popularity that killed Tapas, it was Kakao grossly overpaying for a platform and deciding a new stock listing was more important than maintaining a business that was successful prior to Kakao ownership and the management missteps that killed it for good.

Basically, Kakao is reorganizing itself into two companies,Kakao Entertainment and Kakao X. Tapas is the odd company out because it was perpetually subsidized by Kakao and the Korean stock exchange requires a company to possess a clean balance sheet without liabilities for a potential listing.

After doing the reading on Kakao's business filings for the past few days, they didn't shut down Tapas because of piracy or lack of users, it got shut down because Kakao's in the middle of a stock market listing in Korea that forced them to get rid of any overseas companies on the books

I make it a point to play below average games to understand where the disparate elements failed to come together. More often than not, when I actually sit down and write down my experiences, it ends up revealing the developer's intent far better than any technical exercise.

I think this could be as bad as MS losing RE4 for the original Xbox in terms of ball-dropping. Not in terms of potential success, but... there are only so many Japanese third-party devs that can sell platforms and history shows once they're spurned, they tend not to have your back when you need it.

I will say I've seen the follow-up reporting and still stand by what I said. I always figured it was cold business calculus that led Sony to drop it, but: 1. they should've known who they were dealing with and planned accordingly. Budgets and deadlines matter, but Kojima's dev style is well-known.
