No Live Tackling: Mike McCarthy Confirms Major Change To Steelers Training Camp
Under Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers training camps were known for their intense physicality and “live” tackling sessions, players going to the ground like in a real game. That’s no more under Mike ...

🧵 Attention, Fellow SFF Artists and Authors -- here is my response to Must Read Magazines, after they presented an Asimov's art contract expecting me to waive all Moral Rights and Copyright to my art. And, I would strongly advise the following to my fellow pros…. 1/
John Picacio’s response to Must Read Magazine’s request for his waiver of all Moral Rights and Copyright of his commissioned art for an ASIMOV’S assignment. Short version — Picacio says a resounding NOPE.

Well done to the person in charge of Surface for doing a presentation where Surface wasn’t spelled correctly.

The legs in the bottom right corner of the first image. That person would be sitting outside the window and stock images generally don't do partial details like that anyways. The food one definitely is.

Either the autopsy scene from Independence Day or The Ghost Of Christmas Yet To Come from Muppets Christmas Carol. I don't remember which I saw first, but both have stuck with me.

Myself and at least one other person can cooperatively play a game together in the same room using separate controllers connected to the same console or PC.

Dogging is a persistent nagging, pestering, or harassment. Same family as dog-pile. Never heard of fly-tipping, but I'd guess something to do with fishing?

This was hard. I really tried to focus on games that were a root to what I like, but couldn't squeeze em all. Broad themes: exploration, story (especially emergent), moddable, and make your own fun. Except Spyro. That makes the list because it was my first real game. my9games.net/en/edit
Pick 9 games that define you.

Spyro, Mass Effect, Crusader Kings 2, Star Ocean: The Second Story, Oblivion, Halo: Combat Evolved, Rimworld, X-Com: Enemy Unknown, Homeworld

Sometimes I wonder if it's a problem that all these sci-fi stories are having a really great time at the expense of one Ursula Le Guin short that's left to suffer in a hole.

It also helps that No Man's Sky isn't really a multiplayer title. It doesn't depend on having a player base to facilitate matchmaking. One person could try the updates on their own and word of mouth spread from there.

I hear you, but Kermit as Rand and Miss Piggy as Lanfear feels too perfect. And you solve all the red hair issues by making all the Aiel be frogs which would cast Jill as Aviendha. I think Mildred would make a good Egwene.

My speculation is that it looks like voters didn't vote if they couldn't make an informed decision. It takes a lot more time to listen to 6 years worth of podcasts than it does to read 6 poems or watch 6 movies.

Found, at last! 🕳️ The globular star cluster Omega Centauri should be filled with black holes left behind by exploding stars, yet evidence for them is scarce. But now, Hubble has finally found the first stellar-mass black hole in this cluster 👉 esahubble.org/news/heic2610/ 🔭 🧪
Hubble image of globular star cluster Omega Centauri, which looks like a highly dense field of stars. Some appear a bit larger and brighter than others, with the majority of stars appearing blue, orange, and yellow. They are scattered mostly uniformly, like grains of sand. Toward the centre they gradually become closer, creating a more luminous area at the globular star cluster’s core. A small red square frame is near the centre. It connects to a square pullout in the top right corner, which shows the outlined area in greater detail. Among the blue- and orange-colored stars is a small blue-white dot that is highlighted by a small red circle. Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, M. Häberle (MPIA)

Being transparent also helps people make alternative plans. Give me a sense of whether it will be better if I delay my trip by an hour - I can easily go get dinner or something for a bit. Or do I need to find an alternative mode?

I think a lot about how the time gap between the two episodes of Star Trek TNG's "Best of Both Worlds" was three months. Three months between 26 episode seasons! It never left public consciousness. Netflix could never.

Being a pretty good 4k bluray player is a huge reason why I have a PS5. I wouldn't be shocked to find out I've spent more time watching my physical media on it than playing games.

I get your point, but Steam hasn't shut down the ability to download old games either like Sony is doing with PS3 and PSP. If the console makers were better about keeping older games around, I'd be way less attached to physical. But I'd still want the BR player for my movies.

I understand SCOTUS, know who they are, & by all rational accounts it feels so naive to say: "I can't believe 4 of 9 justices said the Constitution doesn't protect birthright citizenship." And yet, I can't believe 4 of 9 justices just said the Constitution doesn't protect birthright citizenship.
