DeSantis signed a law that protects delicate cops from having anyone come within 25 feet of them while they’re “performing their duties” but construction workers have to face the full fury of the goddamn sun

“Aide-de-camp” is not really an assistant kind of aide, but a senior member of a command staff. No way was Lafayette anyone’s assistant. Ever. Mon dieu!

Aye, but NOT decapitated. As for the army, he did write about how unsoldierly and unprepared to meet a major opponent they were.

Yes, he was a volunteer for Washington. I think he found the American “Army” pitiful. Returned to France, lived til 1834, respected by two nations

I’ve had friends go there before. I’ve also had a few octopus friends. My god, they’re intelligent! If they lived longer there WOULD be an octopus civilization at least on a par with humans!

Colorful Urocordylids, a full reconstruction of the sketches I showed yesterday. Fossils of two of these taxa (Lepterpeton dobbsii and Urocordylus wandesfordii) were found on Ireland, so I guess it is a timely post for St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀 🐡 🎨 🧪 #paleontology

Full color reconstructions of 5 Urocordylids nectrideans in lateral view. From top to bottom: Sauropleura scalaris, S. pectinata, Lepterpeton dobbsii, Ptyonius marshii and Urocordylus wandesfordii

You know, reading all this makes me think most of us are on the same side. The sheer scale of what needs fixing is making us angry at each other, perhaps, more than the enemy.

Gam, before you attack my spine, walk a bit in my shoes. No, don’t; you don’t deserve that. All I’m trying to say is I’ve seen principles crushed because people (rightly) wanted things fixed NOW. Politicians don’t like to fix thingsz

Dr Robert Sprackland @varaniddoc.bsky.social · 12/03/2024

Bob?!?!? You are correct; our politicians should face consequences—swiftly—for their transgressions. Society’s problem, though, is deciding which of two evils (GOP/Dem) is worse on a large slate of issues? I don’t like either candidate…

My dad and I used to build jetties—with boulders, not dunes, and perpendicular to the beach. That was in the 1970s. They (and their beachfronts) are all still there.

Dr Robert Sprackland @varaniddoc.bsky.social · 12/03/2024

My concern is the way people are easily led. If polls (real accurate, right?) indicate Biden’s numbers falling, voters might accept it as truth. Don’t feed defeatism. As for the genocide: of course it is wrong. It is evil. Too many people forget WWII…
