Three is the number of Vaquita sightings for 2026. That’s 3 sightings not 3 Vaquita. It is said that 3 sightings is good because it was in a training program only over 11 days. Well, it’s usually over 21 days so I call bollocks. It was a led by the expert & they had 5 BigEyes binoculars instead of 2

Three cartoon Vaquita swimming in the green sea of the upper Gulf of California, Mexico. Although there are 3, they are all the same.

earth.com A sickening tragedy during a research project on harbour porpoises interactions with fishing nets. I wonder if the researchers set the scenario in this instance, first finding the porpoises and deploying the net despite it being a likely mother/ calf pair involved.

Sea Shepherd’s vessel Bob Barker has been out Vaquita Refuge for a few months (Mazatlan) Now it’s heading far south to port in Panama. Back to just 1 vessel, Seahorse, in the Vaquita Refuge.

Screenshot from Vessel Finder of Sea Shepherd’s vessel Bob Barker heading away from the Vaquita Refuge to Panama Canal. Will it be going back to the Vaquita Refuge, sit in port in Panama Canal, be donated back to Marine Protection Alliance or go through the canal. With only Seahorse in the Vaquita Refuge, will there be a vessel ready to replace it when it requires maintenance?

No mention of a Vaquita Survey yet? It’s a CITES requirement that a survey is conducted annually. The last 2 years it has been done in May during a lull in fishing season before it gets too hot n hazy.

One Vaquita, drawing white on black with the words, Extinction Sucks. The Endling, the last of a species. 😢

Five Vaquita. 2 of which have faded into the background as a result of the torbid (cloudy) nutrient rich waters they live in.

Six Vaquita. Or is that really only 1 Vaquita seen six times? The last Vaquita Survey conducted in May 2024 only had between 6-8 individuals sighted over a 3 (and a bit) week period.
