Everyone should read @sugi.bsky.social’s phenomenal novel, Brotherless Night! It follows the main character, Sashi, as she goes through the training of and becoming a doctor during the civil war in Sri Lanka in the 1980s. The book asks, who fights for liberation, and who is left behind in the fight?

I don’t feel bad that National Guard are sleeping on the floor with no access to bathrooms. we have testimony from children who were detained by ICE that they had to sleep on concrete floors, didn’t have access to bathrooms and were fed crackers for meals.

It’s tough to balance. I try to focus on how far we’ve come. Today I made a rainbow stack of queer books and they were almost all from BIPOC authors! #BIPOCQTchat omg I mean everything I write is influenced by my identity. But I always try to think of future generations who have to experience difficult things like queerness in high demand religion, adoption trauma, being mixed race in a world of boxes etc. Its about uplifting minority voices!!

I wish I was better at balancing my existentialism about our political climate. In a lot of aspects, now that I think about it. I share a career w/ my MC in paramedicine. My education in history informs my worldbuilding & political/religious implications on the plot/characters. I really like that I’m passionate and curious about craft. I once spent six months researching and learning how to self edit because I wasn’t satisfied with my skill level. I listen to feedback (even if I whine about it first lol) and change for the better. I think that’s pretty neat! #BIPOCQTchat

2. I think I’m most proud of how much healing I’ve been able to do through creative expression. A lot of it is writing books but also poetry, music, dancing. I feel like writing opened the doors for me to dive into stories I didn't realize were mine to tell, and it's been like therapy #BIPOCQTchat
