curious how many fellow nerds love the Obsidian experience then hated its limitations and vibe-coded their own version? I think "personal knowledge management" or "digital gardening" is like an endless quest. I used to think we could design the one definitive system to rule them all.

Okay sorry I’m old, I’m slow to catch on. ATProto *really* gives me the opportunity to hit reset on my own social / trust graph and control it going forward. Damn.

JP @byjp.me is coming to town, which is a great excuse to have a meetup! Our theme is going to be #selfhosting and #homelabs, but any projects you want to show off or discuss are welcome. We're trying [lichen wiki for our notes and speaker list](https://lichen.wiki/@vancouver.atprotocol.community/atproto-vancouver/september-2026-meetup) -- we'll add permission to attendees and/or ping us and we'll make you a contributor. We’ll meet at @z-space.ca, and people are welcome to join across the street at The Magnet for a bite to eat. #atproto

The only way to get employed as an AI engineer consultant/lead is to be unemployed long enough first, so you can catch up, keep up, prototype, evaluate and integrate 9-5. And then also tie it back to your previous tech life. Barely anyone can claim more than 12 months live experience.

Any other #VWFC fans finding Boro highlights in YouTube feeds? So great to see Seba keep getting better over course of last two seasons, then World Cup and now hitting ground running in the Championship. Espanyol earlier in the week, then a great header assist for Carabao Cup win against Wrexham.

Elsevier's operating margin: 38%. Google's: ~25%. The most profitable information company on earth isn't a tech giant — it's a journal publisher that doesn't pay its authors or peer reviewers. The product is the community, extracted as rent. Scholarly publishing is a heist dressed up as public good.
