Imo, what really makes a game grindy is terrible combat. If it's all about direct damage because status effects and buffs suck/are bugged, then the level curve doesn't even matter. "I swing my sword/cast fireball" for 30~60 hours is the core of grindy. That's why Jeff still got options without PSI.

Whether or not an rpg is grindy is largely separate from REs. Most "grindy" rpgs have been beaten at low levels, so REs don't fully do what this meme claims. Those games need better tutorialization about the skills/abilities that llgs depend on. Earthbound did REs better for all types of players.

You could tell they were completely clueless about gaming because all they had to do was market things as "it's your Pokemon but they make you money (somehow) and you can take them to other games (you can't)." The model they wanted was right there and they couldn't even recognize it.

I generally don't cheat on a first experience, but anything is fair game after that. Sometimes games are old and have pain points that couldn't really be avoided. Sometimes devs make mechanics that kinda suck. Sometimes the fantasy is unfettered badassery. Whatever it takes to find the fun.

It's weird to call anyone in that show a villain. They're all child brained, learning and figuring things out. The entire lesson of the show is misunderstandings happen, try to avoid being selfish, and make amends when you're wrong and it hurts someone.

Imo, because hunting in older games is kinda bad. Even outside of encounters being one at a time, everything is slower. PLA was a revolution partially because it removed so many pain points in overall gameplay. It could've been an 8192 game and those changes would still make it a fan favorite.

Pokemon Go being the only place currently to get certain shiny Pokemon is already something collectors have to grapple with. Zacian and Zamazenta are currently Go only, and could remain so for years if they're not in WiWa. Won't be surprised to see a Go debut for gen8/9's like Urshifu either.

Seems like many people believe that anything that has a purpose can't be art. Art, to way too many people, is only stuff without use. Even where people are able to make exceptions to this, like architecture, it can be a struggle to get them there, so something "invisible" like code is unimaginable.

"Card rarity" is trying to make a real world problem into a facet of your game. It's pretty bad for the actual players of your game. The best way to make a card valuable is with the game mechanics, but maybe limited prints as tourney rewards could work. At least real players would get them.

Honestly, I do think every fandom needs a Crispy's Tavern type channel. Imo, it's a useful pressure release, but more importantly it can help less in-the-loop people easily find out why certain people/orgs/cons suck and/or disappeared.
