I commissioned some art for my website and adore how it came out! @elzappa.bsky.social did fantastic work A chunk of my novel, Inondation, takes place on a digital platform, which this piece alludes to. Still searching for an agent to represent me but keeping my fingers crossed!

Banner for Inondation, illustrated by Jorge Zapata

commission for @ kai-in-disguise on tumblr, their shapeshifter Paris! thank you for commissioning me 💜 #art

digital shoulders-up portrait of a young adult person whose face is emerging from inside another face, which is splitting in the middle and peeling away like a paper cocoon. the person's "real" face is lean, with light warm-toned freckled skin. his facial features are naturally slightly asymmetric, and he has straight brown hair, the long bangs framing the cheeks. a port wine stain covers part of his nose and eye on the left side of his face. the 'cocoon' face has paler cooler-toned skin, shorter wavy black hair and similar facial features, but they appear to be changed slightly: he has a wider more chiseled jaw, a straight nose and perfectly symmetric features overall. both faces have a five-o'clock shadow, violet eyes and are wearing smudged eyeliner - dark brown on the "real" face and black on the "cocoon". the split in the face is ending around the clavicles, two strings of pearls and a white shirt collar framing the neck. the emerging face is wearing a slight smile on his face, looking at the viewer, while the "cocoon" has a neutral expression.

Art makes the internet worth looking at. Photography, music, graphic design-all things people love. Yet artists always carry the burden of making sure these things exsist in digital spaces because it's how we make a living. It gets exhausting being the world wide webs coal miner canary.

Artists have to get ahead of shifting online spaces CONSTANTLY Youtube changes its algorithm to favor longer content? Animators suffer. Social media pushes video content? Artists have to make videos now. Tumblr goes on a censorship purge? Artists self-censor. Now Ai is forcing us to prove we're REAL

If you think an artist's style looks like AI but you can scroll back through their portfolio and see them doing the same work before 2020, congrats, you're not looking at an AI grifter. You're looking at one of the original victims whose entire style AI stole.

Wow. LOISH got accused of using Ai to make her art. I started following her on early deviantart. I remember first seeing her paintings in college. This is ridiculous, no one is safe. Artists Ive followed for actual decades are getting harassed because their work has been stolen and regurgitated.

Hortorium Days

colored sketch of ryne working in the hortorium gardens. she's kneeling and brushing her hair out of her face as she pulls up a weed, and turning to talk to the vague form of gaia in the background. ryne's outfit is pointedly different than her canon garb; a crop vest, shorts, and working boots contrast with her usual hyperfeminine Virgin Sacrifice uniform. the large room is dark but ryne is lit by a warm glow from a lamp above

Started as a little study and became another one of the 'Secret Society of Unpractical Headpieces in Space' series (that still does not exist) 🪐

Illustration by Eleonor Piteira showing a black woman with an elaborate golden headpiece. Her hair is curly and long, she's wearing a dress, and gold and blue make up on her eyes. She is framed by a circle and behind her there is a space view with a star and small planets.

The good men, the friends and lovers even, say to me later "well why didn't you just tell that creep off" as though I wouldn't be accused of starting shit, as though they'd stand up for me and not interrogate me to make the creep comfortable instead. Experience tells me most men will do the latter.

Sailing to Waterdeep... ✨ [ #bg3 My wizard tav, River Rochelèt - 2024]

Waist up digital painting of my Baldur's gate 3 original character River Rochelèt, a baldurian human* wizard, on the deck of a ship sailing to Waterdeep. River has light skin, blue/grey eyes and light brown hair. He's wearing an ornate shirt with open sleeves and black pants with golden belts. He has a noticeable scar at the center of his sternum and slightly pointed ears (a elven recessive gene in his bloodline).

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

one of the worst and most terrifying pieces of information that ive learned is that in order to make friends you kind of have to be annoying to people. and if they like it thenn you can be friends. friendship is just when you both like when the other one is annoying
