Oh yes very recognisable.. that is why I believe people should practice with it in their own classrooms and you should come back to it a couple weeks later 😃. So create a structure for learning and reflection ☺️. What do you think?

Good question, I don’t know. I only know that discovery learning is best suited for students who have more prerequisite knowledge in a specific domain so that they can handle this working method. Otherwise cognitive overload can be a risk I believe

#UKEd #EduSky Wrong prediction — especially with high confidence — is preferable regarding its learning potential. Ouch! I see this objectively, but subjectively, it hurts. Of course, and rightly so. Thanks, as ever, to the wise @EfratFurst .

#EduSky #UKEd An oldie from 7 yrs ago; a #rED event somewhere in Europe from the astoundingly wise & productive @P_A_Kirschner. Quite appropriate timing given the recent launch of Instructional Illusions.

Why I prefer formative action over FA. Too often, “formative assessment” turns into assessment without grades and then we focus on tools. Formative action is about how you ACT on the information. What am I curious about? What misconceptions do I expect? How will I respond when I see them?

The man who gave us the free internet is fighting to reclaim it from tech giants. Bluesky offers what he envisioned - user control, not corporate manipulation. Educators: are you here? What would convince others to come back to give it a proper go?

@valentinadevid.bsky.social making it clear that these formative action processes need to be top-and-tailed with a) ensuring pupils have a really clear sense of what good looks like, and b) a focus on how meaningful and useful feedback is given.

Had a great time in Ipswich with my wonderful colleague Valentina Devid, to discuss how formative action could be helpful for sixth form. Lots of opportunities in our opinion: get a good feel for the starting level of students, speed up the instruction process, and improve on constructive alignment!
