It will never stop being funny to me that the street fighter subreddit has a much better, well reasoned ai policy vis a vis literally all universities.

Hi, thanks for posting! We do appreciate you thinking of us even though we have to moderate.

Our stance on all AI generated content (Images, Video, Voiceovers, and whatever else LLM based AI gets up to in the future):

At best, they are approximations of street fighter characters as the AI has no clue what it is trying to create. Because of this, there is no street fighter content so they are not allowed. (rule 1)

Also, they aren't allowed per our source rule. As AI sources cannot be tracked, we must assume that they use uncredited sources in the learning data. (rule 5)

Finally, AI images, video, text, and voiceovers are barely any different than posting a screenshot of a google search. The level of effort is so low that we consider it spam (rule 3).

Because of these reasons, AI art and other AI content is not allowed.

If you would like to contact the moderators about this removal, you can do so here.

it has been a good long minute since I read America Magazine but JD Vance getting schooled in a Jesuit publication is the absolute sweetest plum www.americamagazine.org/faithinfocus...

JD Vance’s immigration comments are an insult to our Catholic faith

This administration wants to set itself up as somehow Christian. Let them, then, do the bare minimum: Welcome the stranger.

A Muslim son of immigrants might become mayor of NYC in part because he cross endorsed and supported a Jewish candidate and Black candidate, and vice versa. It's a beautiful American story for the rest of us. A nightmare for all the right people ;) It's so New York.

The recent protests I've attended have been filled to the brim with people indistinguishable from grocery store shoppers. Little pockets of Online peeking through, but most people looked and sounded like who I share space with day to day. They carry signs in favor of American ideals.

Okay I had not heard the MechWarrior thing! Tell me more!

VagueGrant @vaguegrant.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

The answer, by the way, was to air it at impossible-to-watch times. I was like 8 or 9, and had set a secret alarm clock in my dresser drawer so it would be loud enough to wake me but not my parents. Snuck in to the living room, watched E.X.O. Squad, and went back to sleep.

VagueGrant @vaguegrant.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

Mine was E.X.O. Squad - a baffling cartoon from the early 90's that the networks had no idea how to handle. What do you even do with a melodramatic, jingoistic sci-fi World War II allegory made in dialogue with Gundam and designed to sell little mecha toys?

Ken And Robin Talk About Stuff. Mostly tabletop RPG centric but full of history, writing advice, weird nonsense, books, cooking, film, and so much else. BIGFEETS by the @1900hotdog.bsky.social folks. An episode-by-episode study of one of the strangest TV shows ever made. By professional comedians!

And @graham.loadingreadyrun.com, @sergeyager.bsky.social, and @alexsteacy.bsky.social—particular thanks to you. You've inspired him. Good work. (Also, the entire family absolutely died laughing at "The Missing Card". Brilliant!)

VagueGrant @vaguegrant.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

I need to stress that he's gone from "I wanna make videogames" to "I really liked how that shot was framed, I bet I could do that." And sure that may change again—he's nine!—but those fun little bits designed to keep folks interested in the credits? Not without impact!

100

VagueGrant @vaguegrant.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

He doesn't actually care much about the Magic content at all in Friday Nights. (If it's not the LotR set he's pretty mid on #mtg, honestly.) But he's one hundred percent invested in the mid-credits behind-the-scenes explanations of tech work, shot composition, lighting, and prop creation.

VagueGrant @vaguegrant.bsky.social · 11/04/2025

So @loadingreadyrun.com I gotta tell you something. My nine-year-old has been doing some after-school theatre, and has kinda-sorta been interested in theater and film. But two things have suddenly sharpened that interest: 1. Watching the Indiana Jones films. 2. Watching Friday Nights.

This feels like exactly the sort of cursed, bafflingly sexist book @1900hotdog.bsky.social would (should?) write about.

The cover of a book titled "Computer Confidence: A Woman's Guide" by Dorothy Heller and June Bower. The background is beige, the title in red, and the subtitle in blue; these are in a font designed for computerized text processing. Below is a stock photo of a brown-haired white woman in a pale shirt touching her index finger to an icon on the black-and-white screen of an early desktop computer. A pink sidebar reads "Overcome computerphobia * Acquire a working computer vocabulary * Choose the right computer products for work, home or school * Evaluate games and educational software for your family * Discover computer-related career opportunities using skills you already love!"
