Without question, without competition, easily my favorite band when I was 18. Todd Nichols, Randy Guss, Dean Dinning, and Glen Phillips. I don't even need to look the names up, they're burned in my brain forever. 🐸💦⚙️

BREAKING: Ukraine has just struck the NZNP Rostovsky oil products export terminal in Rostov- on-Don and set it ablaze, hours after the US- Russia diesel deal and Trump lifting sanctions on Russian fuel exports.

This is a products export terminal, exactly where the diesel would leave Russia under the deal.

Ukrainian military sources said earlier today that the Trump administration's attempt to use Russian diesel to lower US prices before the midterms "will bear no fruit."

News flash, dipshit: that's not parenting
Tweet from a Zero Emotional Intelligence AI Chode:

My wife: Can you read our baby a book?

Me: I can just play an audiobook from my phone.

My wife: But then it won't be in your voice.

Me: I can train a voice model.

Parenting hits different when you work in Al.

I need to replace the battery, front brake disc, tires, and probably a couple other things, but I am once again after a many-year hiatus a bad biker bitch.

After dealing with Xfinity for 10 months, I finally managed to get my dad's number ported out. To make sure it worked, I made a quick test call and hung up after I heard my phone ring. When I picked up my phone later, even though I knew better, seeing this notification still sucked.

Whatever the hell the "Global Cities Index" is, it's clearly horseshit. How you gonna have SAN JOSE on the list but no Singapore? Or São Paolo? Or Sydney, Barcelona, Istanbul, Shanghai, or a dozen other cities? Come on now. www.bbc.com/travel/artic...

I cannot get over (nor shut up about, clearly) how much I love this thing. The light weight means I can hold it up with one hand, reading for hours, with no fatigue or need to reposition my arm. It's so perfect.

People who are 1s and 2s, a question: When you "see" the apple, how do you see it? Is it projected onto the back of your eyelids, like it's actually in front of you? Or do you just conceptualize it in your brain?

btw my mom has a new foster. He's part German Shepherd, part Husky, and fully insane. The only way I can get him to stop tearing around long enough to get a picture is by giving him pets. And even then it took a dozen shots to get these two decent ones. He's an absolute maniac.

Phone Photography Tip: if you can, a pano is better than a wide-angle shot It obviously won't work for action shots or the like, but if you have a relatively static scene, shooting in pano mode will yield a less-distorted image than shooting wide angle
For reference, a 1x magnification shot of the sceneWide angle (0.5x magnification) captures everything, but severely distorts the edges of the photoPanorama stitch also captures the full scene, but with almost no distortion. There may be a minor stitch issue or two (like the edge of the blinds) but it's otherwise pretty solid.

Every time I read about extreme sports folks and death-defying stunters and the like, I remember this Emily Carroll quote
An excerpt from Emily Carroll's "Through the Woods." A little girl is tucked in her bed, having evaded the wolf and made it safely through the woods. The text reads:

"Oh but you must travel through those woods again & again..." said a shadow at the window. "... and you must be lucky to avoid the wolf every time..."

"But the wolf ... the wolf only needs enough luck to find you once."

Latest analog kick: printing and albuming 350 photos Because when I'm 75, I'm not gonna be loading up Lightroom or a 35-year-old website to reminisce on past adventures.
cheap album + cheap laser burner = slightly less-cheap-looking photo albumI love that the 4x6 photo pockets perfectly fit the road journals that I had previously just been keeping in a stack on a shelfI've made custom press-printed photo books of some of my adventures. And while they look all fancy and pretty, they're also just so ... antiseptic. Flipping through an actual photo album just feels more personal.Plus, they look great on the shelf. I'm gonna need to order a bunch more albums just to have on hand for future adventures.

I futzed with it. Dude on Reddit said that bit of the Rubicon Trail (loop's left side) is incredibly overgrown, and that means ticks. I don't wanna spend my night pulling bloodsuckers off me and Spiro. New route would be longer and climbier, but less ticky. I think I'm okay with that.

Final route configured. Time to stop futzing with Alltrails before I completely alter it yet again. Almost forty miles and a lot of steep climbs. My knees are gonna hate me but my camera's gonna have the time of its life.
Planned Desolation Wilderness route. 38.5 miles, a couple of mountains, and a helluvalotta lakes.

Welp, we had a good run, Wordle. But as I'm heading off to the internet-less wilds for five days, our streak will finally be coming to an end. If anything, I'm embarrassed that it's been over two years since the last time I was off the grid long enough to lose my streak.
My 814-day Wordle streak, about to be lost when I go camping this week.
