Here's a lovely pic of some of my hand-sewn, fabric art Jeremy Creatures. The ground is green fur and the background is a beautiful galaxy print fabric. One creature is a gray rock with two different sizes black eyes and a little frown. There's a tall ghost with about 35 black eyes of different sizes and a wide mouth full of sharp teeth. There's another spirit with many eyes, twirly head wisps, and an open mouth with sharp teeth. There's also a ghost with a tiny face, with two different sized eyes and a little frown. There's a black ghost with a gray moon face, their body covered with hand-embroidered stars and planets of various sizes and colors. There's a frowny white ghost featuring embroidered red flowers. There's a super tiny frowny white ghost, and a super tiny black ghost with four eyes and embroidered stars.

I have a tremor in my hands that I've had for about 20 years. I grip my pens really hard. Putting a makeup sponge on them helps a bit, but I try to set a timer to take breaks when I'm going to be drawing for a long time.

Well this is an obstacle to getting any work done... (No wonder I find cat hairs in my watercolor palettes) Typical Walter behavior.

I used to do Inktober. I stopped for many reasons, but one of the biggest is because I always end up stressed out from drawing a bunch of stuff I don't want to draw & am super burned out afterwards. I'm thinking about doing a Dino-tober. But I'm wondering if that will stress me out too...

Just did a dino idea brainstorming session. I've gone down a strange research rabbithole about the Transit of Venus, Guillaume Le Gentil, and King George III. I may never return. The trapping of Shackleton's Endurance and the discovery of its wreck in in 2022 fit somewhere into this.

Finished (stopped) the My First Gouache robin. It’s better than I expected, but I know what I want to get better at. Trying to fix it would have made it worse; hence, stopped. Also the start of a European Jay. I think I might have overtaxed myself with this one. #DrawingAugust #birdart #gouache

A gouache painting of a European robin. Its legs and feet are unpainted. A combination of inexperienced (mine) and a restricted palette means it looks a bit blobby and rather hungover. Nonetheless, it could be a lot worse.

A rough sketch of a European jay. It’s clinging to a vertical branch and facing left. I’ve put a first layer on its chest and the underneath of its tail.

I’m not expecting this to turn out brilliantly, but it will be *practise* and that’s the whole point.

For me the whole point of doing what I'm doing-art is a way of processing life. I don't see the value in outsourcing any element of that.

When I'm looking at someone else's project, if I see an element of the environment [where] they use generative fill or whatever to change something about the scene, it just shuts off the part of my brain that wants to know more about that world. Because I would assume if they're willing to make an arbitrary choice there, they could make an arbitrary choice with literally anything.
