being raised christian, i have so much religious trauma from finding out that my friends weren't christian. I was too scared of confrontation to try to convert them so my 9 year old brain was just a nonstop loop of "they're going to hell and it's your fault they're going to hell and it's your fault"

As an astronomy grad student, parsecs are far superior to light years imo Like if our unit of cosmic distance is going to be based on Earth's orbit regardless, we should at least pick the one that sounds cooler lol (plus it's easier to add metric prefixes to, e.g. kiloparsecs / megaparsecs)

I probably didn't get my point across well, but obviously authors don't owe readers an analysis of their work, and flawed characters SHOULD exist in fiction. My issue was more about Toledo's tongue-in-cheek FAQ response, which I personally found tactless and dismissive of real concerns about the LDS

I've read a good bit of CL and enjoyed it a lot actually. I never suspected that it was "pro-Mormon", and I hate seeing all of the strawman arguments like "oh, so every media depiction of Mormonism is pro-Mormon?" It was the actions of the author himself that upset me, not the content of the VN.

Once Campo Largo is fully released and completed, I sincerely hope that it tells a beautiful story that highlights the very real flaws of the LDS church, and the crisis of faith experienced by many ex-Mormons. As an exvangelical, I see the potential for this to be a very compelling narrative.

Of course the author doesn't owe anyone any explanation, but that's a two-way street. The author is not owed engagement if they intentionally withhold information that might reduce engagement. But engagement is exactly what they got anyway. Negative press is still press, and I'm guilty of that too.

When a small team is releasing content super slowly, and they're VERY ambiguous about their stance on an extremely predatory organization, I think it's valid to want some clarification before continuing to follow and engage with that content for however many months or years the full release takes.

I think it's hilarious that the only clear and concise answer in the FAQ is "Soaking is a myth and a harmful stereotype against Mormons" The author even clarified in the replies that nobody directly asked them about that, they just wanted to talk about it after evading all of the real questions lol
