My filmmaking buddy Oliver Jones discovered a lost episode of TRAP DOOR unseen for nearly forty years and has just posted it to YouTube. I was also involved with the "restoration."

It's the 40th anniversary of THE TRAP DOOR, one of the greatest TV shows of all time.

The making of THE EVIL DEAD played as a Three Stooges comedy. Actresses losing eyelashes in headcasts, Bruce Campbell getting his injured ankle poked with sticks, Sam Raimi being fucking blasted by a falling log just scratches the surface of the real-life shenanigans.

"Star Maker" by Remedios Varo, the titular maker of stars replaced by Homer Simpson being forcibly made to spin the gigantic wheel that powers the tiny rotating cupcake tower

It's John Sayles' birthday. Unfortunately no blu-ray announcements this year so more than half of his directorial output still languishes on DVD. Allegedly Criterion are working on BROTHER FROM ANOTHER PLANET and I did manage to track down the EIGHT MEN OUT soundtrack over the last 12 months.

"It was easily 20 minutes longer... Jackie had added all this material!" ... It's actually three minutes shorter than the US version, despite a whole new sub-plot and side character. Both versions have their merits but the fights are definitely better in the HK cut.

It's gonna take A LOT of positive buzz to get me to watch a GREMLINS film not directed by Joe Dante.
