When Quantum meets Biology: shaping the future of healthcare
Imagine a world where diseases are detected before symptoms appear, where life-saving medicines are designed in months rather than years, and where doctors can understand the hidden biological signals...

🌿 Prof. Anupam Sengupta: quantum effects may play a role in how plants use sunlight so efficiently. 🤖 Rick Schneider, Helical: in work with Pfizer, AI identified significantly more patients at risk. 🔒 Shekoufeh Gorgi Zadeh: AI still makes mistakes, so regulation keeps science trustworthy.

Quantum sensors are built to pick up signals too faint for conventional instruments. In medicine, that could mean spotting a disease long before the first symptom. That was the focus of the latest #Quantum & #AI Breakfast by the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg AI Factory.

Quantum technologies and AI are opening new possibilities for healthcare: diagnostics, drug discovery, personalised care, more efficient health systems. The third breakfast asks how their convergence can support faster insights, more accurate predictions, better delivery.

How psychology can help us navigate a changing society
What happens to our mental health when we face adversity? How does artificial intelligence change the way we think and make decisions? And what makes

University of Luxembourg @uni.lu · 12/09/2026
Three questions psychology is now asked to answer: how early adversity shapes mental health, how AI changes the way we think and decide, and what makes people act on climate change. Not questions for psychologists alone. They decide how societies function. And #uni_lu works on all three. 🧵

"Studies of reusing concrete show roughly 80 to 95% lower upfront embodied carbon than equivalent new systems, but we must demonstrate the structural safety for the next decades." Prof. Bertola Full story: www.uni.lu/fstm-en/news... Congratulations! 👏

Reusing whole slabs, walls and columns is already possible. More than 50 examples exist across Europe. What is missing is a way to predict how a cut-out element will behave for decades. RESCUE combines physics-based models, on-site sensors and machine learning to give each building its own answer.
