Are you as difficult to influence online as you think? On 29 September, #UniverCITYTalks explores how scammers gain our trust, how algorithms shape what we see and where influence becomes manipulation. Free and open to all. www.uni.lu/en/events/univercity-tal…

🌿 Prof. Anupam Sengupta: quantum effects may play a role in how plants use sunlight so efficiently. 🤖 Rick Schneider, Helical: in work with Pfizer, AI identified significantly more patients at risk. 🔒 Shekoufeh Gorgi Zadeh: AI still makes mistakes, so regulation keeps science trustworthy.

Quantum sensors are built to pick up signals too faint for conventional instruments. In medicine, that could mean spotting a disease long before the first symptom. That was the focus of the latest #Quantum & #AI Breakfast by the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg AI Factory.

Anupam Sengupta (Uni.lu) will present: "Biology through a quantum lens: opportunities, challenges, and AI in physics-informed biomedicine" From molecular dynamics to predictive disease modelling, clinical diagnostics and decision support.

The second edition of the Quantum & AI Breakfasts opened with logistics in June and sustainability in July. On Friday 18 September, the conversation moves to health. 🧵

Three questions psychology is now asked to answer: how early adversity shapes mental health, how AI changes the way we think and decide, and what makes people act on climate change. Not questions for psychologists alone. They decide how societies function. And #uni_lu works on all three. 🧵

Can concrete have a second life? Prof. Numa Bertola of the University of Luxembourg has won a €1.7M ERC Starting Grant for RESCUE: tools that tell engineers, before a building comes down, which concrete elements can be safely reused, and for how long. #uni_lu | @erc.europa.eu | #ERCStG
Two construction workers in orange safety gear guide a large concrete slab lifted by chains on a building site. Text reads: Research Impact. Can concrete have a second life? New tools could help engineers safely reuse structural concrete. €1.7M ERC Starting Grant for Prof. Numa Bertola and his RESCUE project.

One painting brought Dr Bereket Yilma back to a peaceful memory. The next did the opposite. That museum visit inspired ArtAICare, bringing AI and visual art into therapist-led care. Twelve years on, read the story: www.uni.lu/en/news/art-...
A person wearing a black sensor headband sits at a computer and looks at a landscape painting displayed on the screen. Text on a pale-blue panel reads: “Art therapy powered by AI: The Story Behind ArtAICare.”
Portrait of Dr Bereket Yilma wearing a black top against a pale-blue background. Text beside him reads: “Entrepreneurship is not simply about funding or valuation. It is about taking responsibility for turning knowledge into something that works for real people.”

The University of Luxembourg is working to close these gaps. In a new project with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), our researchers will create an #AI model that continuously adapts to novel jamming technology, operating from ground stations inside NATO allied territories.

A line that quietly reframes the whole talk: "AI cannot scale without a robust, reliable supply chain of its own." Prof. Mantin walks through it: rare earths, lithium, data centres, power. The discipline studying AI is also one AI now depends on.

Closing on a strong line: "Quantum and AI are not technologies. They are the canvas on which we will paint the logistics systems of tomorrow." Four pillars for that future: sustainable, specialised, intelligent, resilient.
