They’re not misunderstanding the film; they’re co-opting a message. Update: I actually went back to my exorcist Yunho, which means it's one of the rare times I have something for #wipwednesday

Yunho's own haunting had gone quite a bit different.

First of all, there had been his family situation. He had grown up in a — nuclear and extended — family of exorcists. There wasn't a time in his memory when he hadn't been trained to join the same path. Unfortunately, nobody had cared to explain that it was quite common for an upcoming exorcist to attract a haunting or two. So, when the whole bullshit had started, he'd done what all sensible teenagers with a strict family did, when they'd thought they'd done something wrong: he'd hid all evidence. For a month, he threw away every lunch packed from home because it had grown moldy within hours. He did loads of extra laundry for every time a car hit a puddle right next to him in just the perfect angle. He rebuilt his bed ship-of-Theseus-style when the frame cracked and broke in always new exciting places from no particular action at all. All the while, he'd researched discretely until he was confident enough to summon the demon the next time he was alone at home.

The demon was the second thing that had been rather different. It had been undeniably stupid to summon one of the deadliest species of demons into his bedroom at the age of fourteen. It was just the fact that Yunho had attracted the maybe only exemplary of this species without any killing intent that saved him that night. Instead of a wicked creature a boy about his age had materialized in his bedroom and introduced himself as Mingi.
