complex
TED: A cat? Being cute is my job here. Hello! … she won't even say hi.
Eli: Relax — she's mine. She just needs time to get used to things.
Cat: oh, I love this planet already.
Cat: But I won't show it. I have a complex, mysterious personality.
Eli: She loves this planet already, but she'll never show it, because she has a complex, mysterious personality.
TED: We have so much in common!
CAT: Great

A black-and-white four-panel sketchbook comic featuring two flies. Looking at their phones, one says, “My sleep score is 15.” The other replies, “Mine is 14.” The first fly says, “Hey, it’s not a competition to see who slept worse.” The other responds, “But I’m very competitive.” The first adds, “So am I.” In the final panel, labeled “4 AM,” both flies lie wide awake in bed, determined to get the worse night’s sleep.

The Creative Process
Ink drawing in a sketchbook. Arthur says, “I’ll never use AI for my comics. I love the creative process, and I’ll just use my brilliant brain. Come on, brain. I’m ready. Let’s go.” After nothing happens, Arthur says, “Come on. Brain?” Arthur gets frustrated while drawing and throws away crumpled-up pieces of paper. Ted asks, “What exactly do you love most about this process?”

In the right panel, titled “ALSO ME,” the same fly lies injured on the ground with blood dripping from its arm while another fly stands nearby looking concerned. The caption reads: “I just cut myself trying to remove the price tag from my new hoodie. Please take me to the emergency room.”

Arthur is flying a kite.
Pip: Don’t you have anything more important to do? Police work or whatever?
Arthur: This reminds me of my childhood. Let me have this moment.
Pip: You can’t just ignore the laws of physics. Kites don’t fly in space.
Arthur: And now you’ve ruined it.

Four-panel black-and-white comic. An artist (Fly) sits at a desk and thinks, “Tough times to be an artist… but somehow, it’ll be okay.” A figure labelled “EU” appears and says, “Hey! Thoughts
A four-panel comic showing Arthur sitting with Ted, a small flying robot, on a quiet planet.

Arthur: “Sometimes this boring planet really gets me thinking.”

Ted: “That’s nice. Boredom often leads humans to their most interesting thoughts.”

Ted: “I’d love to hear some of your deeper thoughts, but I suppose that might be a little too personal.”

Arthur: “I’m thinking about burrata and what I’d do for some right now.”

Ted: “Not sure I can relate.”

Panel 1: “We’ve recently started having weekly check-ins with a contact on Earth to exchange information.”
Arthur: “I don’t really have any news. It’s still the most boring planet in the universe.”
Panel 2: Contact: “Okay, this is what things look like on Earth: heat waves, storms, deaths, war, crime, politics, anxiety about the future, energy crisis, abuse of power…”
Panel 3: Arthur: “That was wonderful. I’m really enjoying this exchange. It’s basically a win-win situation. I get information that makes me happy to be up here, and you…”
Contact: “Oh, shut up.”
Panel 4: Ted: “That was a great start.”

Arthur: TD-5200?
Ted: Psst. I’m meditating.
Arthur: But I…
Ted: WTF. You’re interrupting my meditation, you [censored].
Arthur to Pip: Without meditation, his true self comes out. I was just going to ask if we could call him Ted instead of TD-5200.
Ted:[Censored]! I can still hear you, ignorant [censored]! Damn it.
But Ted is nice. Reminds me of Ted Lasso, who’s a pretty laid-back guy, too.
