All of these "third party identity services" are shady. All of them promise privacy, and virtually none of them deliver on it. I didn't even mention Discord (which sucks in its own way for lots of reasons) but if you doing free PR work for them makes you happy, knock yourself out.

Rest of the game? Great, I loved it. But every time I had to deal with that jerk? All the good vibes were just drained away because it was clear there was no tricking it. The only challenge was knowing where you needed to run to, which was sadly trial and error.

That unfortunately describes a few sections of Townfall all too well. The big bad stalker, always moves itself to be between you and your goal. It's flagrantly transparent that this is what is hapening, and I dont find that scary, I find it annoying.

Yes. Essentially that. One of the reasons I love immersive sims so much is that they are built around the opposite of that philosophy. There is no "right way" there is just "has this goal been accomplished? You did it by building a stack of crates to a 10f window? Good for you"

Another issue I have with "you must hide" horror is that most games that do this give very few options on how to deal with your stalker. You zip from safe space to safe space. Put horror into an immersive sim though.....

For me, when the whole game boils down to "hide and seek" the tension is gone. I know I just have to figure out where the devs wanted me to hide and once I do, thats it. Mix fighting and hiding, though? Now I dont know. That uncertainty brings back the tension.

My feelings on that game are mixed. Having one character with one action per round regularly fighting 3+ foes, many of which get multiple attacks meant that using the "cop out" ability to reflect attacks is the only right move like 90%of the time in most non-trivial fights.
