People saying "No, this shouldn't count because of the re-release!" Do you understand Avatar only retook the crown from Endgame because of its re-release? Or that the true-adjusted-for-inflation record holder Gone With the Wind was re-release in theatres a half-dozen times?

It's true, my Letterboxd review of ONLY MINE (2019) was essentially "Amber Midthunder."

Review of ONLY MINE by Scott Williams, a generous 2.5 stars

"I'm glad to see that Amber Midthunder, who plays the lead in this (charmingly) has gone on to better things. It was well intentioned but man, not great."

When Joe Casey has an X-Man use their powers to make a bad guy throw up, it's sophomoric and crude. When Grant Morrison does it, it's a charming dalliance with the lowbrow. That's just how it works! I regurgitate some words about New X-Men at UNCANNY X-CERPTS!

I may have felt like Germ-Free Generation could have been fuller (or shorter) but because it's Morrison's New X-Men, it's still rich with interesting concepts and cutting edge moments. Check it out at UNCANNY X-CERPTS today!

UNCANNY X-MEN ANNUAL 2001 is like Traffic, with mutants, if you were watching it on scrambled pay per view. The dialogue is all clear, the art not so much But what an experience -- read about it at Patreon!

This summer, I removed geoblocking under the impression that it didn't seem to be doing anything and immediately got thousands of bots on my site. So I guess I owe the fine folks at geotargetly an apology. I can't really afford their services anymore though.

Joe Casey brought some, er... quirky ideas to his Uncanny run, but perhaps lacked the storytelling chops to spin them into the groundbreaking tales he envisioned. I try to respect the effort in this week's UNCANNY X-CERPTS

The X-Cerpts Patreon continues to be a thing that exists, and so is Joe Casey's Uncanny X-Men! We cover the 2001 annual, where humans take drugs to become mutants, which would be a great story, were it not for several better stories about this very thing! Check it out!

I think the joyful thing about these mid-80s proto-crossovers was that they were family affairs. It was whoever was pals behind the scenes kind of nudging each other, not corporate synergy.
