One of the easiest ways for a dysfunctional system to preserve itself is to keep us punching down, blaming the people living with its consequences rather than the structures producing them -- Kai Brach

Films Forgotten or Overlooked... DIVA (1981) - Cinéma du look starts here: Beineix shot opera bootlegs, Parisian lofts, and a moped chase through the Métro like a perfume ad with a body count. Style as substance, and everyone from Besson to Refn took the note. #filmsky #moviesky #cinema

Films Forgotten/Overlooked... THE DEVILS (1971) Warner Bros buried this so thoroughly that the deleted 'Rape of Christ' scene remained missing for decades. Ken Russell built 17th-century Loudun as stark white tile, made Oliver Reed a martyr, & the studio only recently authorized a full restoration.

Films Forgotten/Overlooked... BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW (2010) Panos Cosmatos built this around a memory he wasn't sure was real: a half-glimpsed VHS from childhood he couldn't place. The result isn't homage to '80s sci-fi horror. It's a fabricated artifact from a timeline that never happened. #film

In the 80s Marvel Comics when a shit ton of heroes all came together (Secret Wars, Contest of Champions, X-men v Titans), those stories rarely had impactful character moments, but were great fun for artists. I guess no lessons were learned from said failures. (Crisis was a different beast)

Overshooting 1.5°C looks likely—but it’s not game over. The key is limiting how far (and how long) we exceed it, then bringing temperatures back down with rapid cuts + carbon removal. Every fraction of a degree still matters. 👉 www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-... #ClimateChange 🌍🌐🧪

Let’s break down the 8 essential questions I ask about my characters before I even start outlining my latest feature screenplay or TV pilot. I’ve found them to be more important to my characters’ development and, thus, the narrative’s action/plot than anything else I do when breaking a story. 1/2
