Hot take but we need to stop making mobile apps for everything. I don't want to download a whole app for a conference and then never use it again.

Yes, transit is expensive. BUT, the cost of maintaining our existing car-oriented infrastructure is MUCH HIGHER. Off Ramp NYC ran the numbers on the BQE comparing removal options vs rebuilding it. The evidence is clear: transit is the cost-effective solution for our future!!!

Everyone talks about the loneliness epidemic, but nobody talks about how better transit would go a long way towards solving it. Like can we get some crosstown connections over here? I'm trying to visit my friends!!

Just thinking about this one interaction I had a while back. Me: social security won't exist by the time I'm 67. Person: so we'll all get nothing and it'll be like communism? Me: no, I just mean social security likely won't exist. Person: so we'll all have nothing like we're under communism? Me: ???

Can someone explain this to me? Everyone I talk to says it's so hard to find work rn but all the companies are saying that it's so hard to find candidates to hire. What's going on here? Why is there such a huge disconnect?

There's not enough discourse about how useless and harmful lawns are (in the sense of a single family house). They take up unnecessary space, they use up valuable resources like water, and they take so much time, money, and effort to maintain. There's no reason they should be this widespread.

Why does every single doctors office have a different online platform? It's never the same one. I can't tell you how many different accounts I've made for various health platforms, and the amount of two step verifications I have to go through is insane. Someone make it stop plsssssss

Real talk, we're seeing the real generational costs of having so much car-oriented infrastructure in the form of exorbitant maintenance and operational costs for this inequitable system. If we want to continue investing in sustainable, equitable transportation solutions, we have to acknowledge (1/3)

According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150K trees have been planted, and 45ha of parks created in the already hot city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to & manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050. Keep going with this, Paris.

Looks like Mayor Mamdani is proposing to keep funding the Queensway's Metro Hub. As designed, this will block future reactivation of the LIRR Rockaway Branch. This goes against his previous support. So if other parks need $43 million, I know where they can get it.

A line item from Mayor Mamdani's proposed city budget showing $43 million dollars set aside for the Queensway's Metro Hub park.

Ok not to belabor the point from this vid, but I'm on my umpteenth rewatch and in s3 e13, Rory says she'll "take a train" from Hartford to Boston because Sherry went into labor early. Problem is: there's no train between the two cities. This means that clearly, Gilmore Girls takes place... (1/2)
