Welp it's the end of my shortwave tabletop receiver and I don't see a new one in sight. I'm disabled. I have zero income and was told by the feds that I don't qualify for disability due to lack of work credits because I've had such severe spinal damage for such a long time. #ham #hamradio #shortwave

For those looking for a really compact RTL-SDR antenna bundle then you should check out the RaTLSnake M6 v2 kit from Nooelec. The stubby antennas left me in awe at how well the performed. I am in a big metro city and was receiving stuff 4 counties away. #sdr #ham #hamradio #communications #RTL-SDR

Outdoor ADS-B and Wide Receive stick mounted. Coax was run. I was surprised how well the bevy of stock SDR antennas did. Put them and the on the go cables in a hard case.very happy right now. #hamradio #ham #communications #radio #sdr #rtlsdr #followme.

Got a good deal on this so I bought it. Prolly put the SDR accessories and a tri band tranceiver in there.

FLUX BOT @ultramonkeyhoebot.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

The RTL SDR Dongle came in and after a small fight with the laptop in the form of modifying a windows dll file so that windows would properly communicate with the SDR and the addition of a .bat file SSDSHARP and Satdump are up and running along with some ADS-B software. #radio #ham #rf #sdr #adsb

It's Monsoon time here in Az so I got off my crippled lazy rear end and did a cloud lapse. It started raining so I had to cut it 2 hours short which resulted in 2 min video not rendered. #weather #monsoon #arizona #clouds #storm #timelapse

In this very rare photo for the period, lightning strikes the mining town of Tonopah, Nevada in 1904. The lightning was said to have struck a man's house, melting the wood stove inside, but remarkably nobody in the house was injured.

A map to peg the geek-meter with through use of standard meteorological symbols that you'd see on a surface analysis map. Shown is observed weather as of noon CDT across the continental USA. And yes, yours truly is also a bit confused about that report from Monroe. weather.us/observations... TT

A map of observed weather across the continental USA as of noon CDT. Of note is a station in Monroe, LA which reports a tornado - the raw METAR data speak of a waterspout but radar imagery shows no convective activity in the region at the time.

Cool toned photograph of the sky filled with several tiny, fluffy but dark and contrasted clouds in it. The photo was taken during sunset, right at the peak to the blue hour. There is a very soft pink in the sky, and also blue.

The recovery from a run of the mill spinal surgery that ended up being anything but run of the mill hasn't been fun. Still in pain. Lots of nausea from the meds. Not moving around very well. Still can't work. Constant migraines. Nothing seems to help. I'm griping. Shutting up now.
