not sure about 2. if it were true, it would raise a much more fundamental question: human judgement is still considered essential in sw dev. but if human judgement led to so many vulnerabilities, readily detected by ai, is it actually as important as claimed?

replace "a few" by "two" ... based on their own claims it just took them just 2 months to turn a ferocious beast that would kill everything into a harmless pet ... :) ... did anyone say "ipo"? ... :) (this does not mean the model is not good. it probably is. but the accompanying announcements suck)

i also tested those open weight models (and a few more) but (purposefully) without putting effort into harness engineering. my findings: sonnet 4.6 provided a bit more polished results ad hoc, but the other ones also provided very good results. each of the models had a bit different strengths.

maybe give kimi k2.6 or glm 5.1 a shot. they need a bit more effort regarding the harness. but a colleague of mine did the work (using pi as agent, but should also work with opencode) and he says that he cannot distinguish the results from sonnet 4.6 and kimi k2.6 anymore (and he is quite critical).

companies talk a lot about "generalists" and "polymaths" in the context of ai but their job ads still reflect the opposite. and according to some friends who just changed jobs, they definitely filter out anyone with a hint of generalist during their interviews. /1
