Unfortunately had to stop evangelizing @trmnl.com to people since this is its founder.
Deleted Ryan Kulp tweet from 2023 saying "in viral startup-related threads i miss a few replies because the account blocked me. so i go incognito to see who they are. always fat and disgusting, pronouns, or both."Deleted Ryan Kulp tweet from 2021 archived on archive.is quote-tweeting a post about Biden's support for trans athletes. Yes, it appears the police dept is not involved in Chicago. The data from the speed cameras is transmitted to the Dept of Finance and they adjudicate whether it is a violation and send the citation.
Illinois State Law mandates manual review of all red-light and speed camera enforcement of all vehicular triggering of camera sensors, also referred to as "events." The vendors review images and video for all events and make the initial determination as to whether a valid vehicular infraction has occurred. Prima facie evidence of violations is transferred to the Department of Finance for a final determination and enforcement. The Department of Finance mails violation notices to the address of the registered vehicle owner. In 2019, just 31% of red-light camera events and 28% of speed camera events were determined to be enforceable violations.

@the48thward.bsky.social does this film production need (and have) a permit to completely block the sidewalk and force pedestrians into the street?

I am technically correct. The best kind of correct.

I was genuinely shocked at the distances between crosswalks in some of Toronto's very dense pedestrian-heavy areas. This stretch in Kensington Market on a streetcar line is 1100+ feet (~350m) without a crosswalk.
Dundas St between Denison Ave and Spadina without a crosswalk

Also crazy: the lack of crosswalks. In this area packed with retail on both sides of the street, the next pedestrian crossing is barely visible in this photo.

Some of the signage that inspired mine. I did want to avoid the angled text on the strip map and increase legibility from afair and I think luckily CTA stop names are generally short so it works pretty well.

I focused on removing redundant info (not listing the next stop twice) and making the most important info as big as possible for viewing at a distance. I also display the map while in motion but swap to a separate arrival screen with very large info when pulling into a station.

I have... issues with the current UX of the passenger info displays on the new @chicagocta.bsky.social trains. Took a stab at what I think would be a better solution, inspired by the new Paris Metro trains and NYC Subway.

It's interesting that they see this product for children and think it is what adults have always wanted but just rendered more realistically

Seems like the headlines are paraphrasing a much more specific quote from the publisher in a way that makes it untrue
According to the publisher, “Kaho is the first lone, woman protagonist featured in a full-length novel by Murakami”

They could have at least looked up the plot summaries of his books on Wikipedia lol
The novel is a story of how a woman named Aomame begins to notice strange changes occurring in the world. She is quickly caught up in a plot involving Sakigake, a religious cult, and her childhood love, Tengo, and embarks on a journey to discover what is "real".

WIP #shinkansen map. Not 100% sure how I want the final to look but want it just to be made of station names. Playing with the idea of overlapping two misregistered inks for transfer stations.

The way Marta shows evening service is odd too. Both styles feel like they’re putting an “asterisk” on this part of the line, implying it’s only partial service here. But this is actually the part of the line that is always served. The rest of the line is not served at off hours.

So many strange choices on Marta. They devote so much real estate on the in car maps to repeating the same evacuation information three times for tunnel, grade, and elevated. The top two diagrams seem to be actually identical. The bottom is slightly visually different but doesn’t provide new info.
