⚠️ Confirmed: Network data show a significant disruption to internet connectivity in Vinnytsia, #Ukraine, following Russia's latest wave of attacks targeting energy infrastructure, as authorities impose emergency power shutdowns across the country
Graph from NetBlocks showing network connectivity by region in Ukraine from October 10, 2026, to October 17 2026. The y-axis represents normalized connectivity from 0% to 100%, and the x-axis represents dates and times. A green line represents Vinnytsia region's connectivity remaining stable throughout most of the period, before dropping on the morning of October 17 (Ukraine time). The disruption corresponds to a power outage following Russian drone attacks targeting energy infrastructure. The minimum and current connectivity levels are 42% and 68%, respectively. A partial recovery is now visible (switched to backups). The chart has a dark background with a red circle highlighting the decline at the end of the period, and includes the NetBlocks logo in the lower left corner with the Mapping Internet Freedom slogan.

I think one of the implications of drone warfare going forward is that powers are going to have fewer alternatives to occupy-and-govern as solutions to problematic neighbors, which creates a nasty kind of zugzwang because modern warfare also makes occupy-and-govern hideously costly.
