iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

iOS, as far as I can tell, intercepts the download and opens the calendar panel, so it ends up being a really nice experience on mobile. Hopefully, android does the same, I’d be shocked if they didn’t. So it seems like this is just specific to any desktop experience.

There’s webcal:// but that’s for ongoing calendars. Did no one consider this problem for individual events? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webcal

Idk what I’ll use it for yet, but pub-search.waow.tech is really great stuff. Nice work @zzstoatzz.io !

anyone know why the best option for "add to calendar" on a laptop/desktop is to download the ics file? we have mailto:, which no one uses, but no ical:// ?!

this change means I officially have no damn clue if you ever use chalky.town unless you say something about it. so good luck have fun I guess? :)

The subscribe button can be actionable without leaving the Bluesky app. It’s disruptive to leave because there’s a good chance you’re not signed into whatever the reader app is and then give up because that’s friction. bsky.app writing the standard.site record would be more atmospheric imo

Changing the feature ahead of moving to truer versions of private posting with ATProto spaces seems like it’s asking for confusion. Change the settings once you offer private posting?

This sounds like a club or membership group. The infrastructure feels like an implementation detail. You could run most of the initial post’s features to a select list of users just from oauth, right?

shake to undo does two things 1. Pisses you off when you sit down with your phone open 2. Makes you look dumb in public when you wish to undo something

chalky.town uses the ATProto spaces alpha for private tasks now atproto.com/blog/atproto...

screenshot of the options for private and public tasks. it reads "WHERE YOUR TASKS LIVE
Each mode syncs directly from your client to your PDS. Private mode uses the ATProto spaces alpha." and private is selected

Brookie made a zine* We wrote the stickie notes, but don’t let Brooke fool you. She made this awesome lil zine that everyone got a nice copy of thanks to crashspace.org

there will be a tips and tricks doc soon, which is where the long term version of this thread and the introductory post will be combined

There aren't any other features planned for now. When ATProto spaces leave alpha, I'll adopt those so chalky.town tasks just write directly to your PDS as the sync space. Otherwise, this is probably the last feature update chalky.town will see for a long time. Maybe forever?

chalky.town | userinput.app

There were other small tweaks and fixes. I plan to continue tuning it a bit over the coming weeks and months. chalky.town is something I use a ton, so I'm really shaping it around whatever feels good + whatever people say over on @userinput.app

links in subtasks are now clickable

task titled "color contrast magic" with subtasks "https://contrastchecker.com from wcag" and "design color picker UI"

there's a new sort option which basically works like this - completed tasks always sort to bottom of a day - tasks start sorted by color - you can drag to reorder/pin them in a new spot The intended flow is a logical sort to start a day by color, then you can order things however it fits the day

the dropdown for task sorting strategies. New one is selected "completion, color, movable"

the biggest feature here is customizable colors 🎨🧑‍🎨 there's a bunch of presets that I think will work well, but you can set the colors to be any hex you'd like. chalky.town will do it's best to calculate white/black text for best contrast. the order dictates the key shortcut to filter for each color

color customization panel showing 7 colors with their hex code and name. They're reorder able and you can add more.

picker panel where you can see how a color will look when it's on tasks. There are preset color options for good contrast pastels, and there's a full custom input too.

the "idk yet" label is customizable now. thanks to @heyitsmina.omg.lol for this request on @userinput.app! userinput.app/d/did:plc:u2...

Feature update thread for @chalky.town 📢 starting off with the 3-day view. This is a thing I felt was needed, especially on Sundays when I wanna dump things off to the next Monday.

Thank you @tynanpurdy.com! I’ll need ratings sooner or later and am thrilled to not need to do the lexicon design thinking here. So helpful 🙌

Idk how, but atproto and jmap together seems like it could be a thing. Interop or something?

Yea I think that’s right Oh, message permission rules would be really neat. Makes protocol level unsubscribe a possibility. 🙏
