Brennen Davis has topped the MLB Exit Velocity Leaderboard the last two days he's played (March 6 & 8)
Brennen Davis has topped the MLB Exit Velocity Leaderboard the last two days he's played (March 6 & 8). His home run on the 8th was hit 115.8 miles per hour, and traveled 464 feet.Brennen Davis' home run on March 6 left the bat at 116.7 miles per hour, which was only 0.1 miles per hour slower than the ball Oneil Cruz hit into the farthest reaches of the second deck in Miami during the World Baseball Classic game the Dominican Republic played there later that day, which was met with awe by most baseball social media personalities.

Literally only 0.1 mph slower than the ball Oneil Cruz just nuked into the outermost rings of Saturn

He has the highest OPS of any 2026 MLB ST hitter with more than 20 PA. He is also the only hitter w/ 3 HR and 4 doubles. And his current Average Exit Velocity (as of end of play on March 6) would have placed him 3rd out of all qualified hitters in MLB last season. Strong consideration, indeed.
As of the end of play on March 6, Brennen Davis' 2026 Spring Training Average Exit Velocity Reading and 50th Percentile Exit Velocity Reading would have led all qualified MLB batters last season. Brennen Davis' 25th percentile EV = 94.3 mph. His 37th percentile EV = 98.2 mph. His 50th percentile EV = 104.2mph. His 94th percentile EV = 114.1 mph

Jesus Cano of Baseball America is reporting that top international signing Luis Hernandez WILL skip the Dominican Summer League and play in the Arizona Complex this season. This sets up an immediate pairing with Josuar Gonzalez in the ACL, and the potential he’ll be in San Jose late this year.

Brennen Davis currently sits 3rd in OPS for all MLB hitters in Spring Training. For reference: Aaron Judge @ AAA Scranton as a 24-year-old: • Homered every 21.5 PA (19 HR in 410 PA) Brennen Davis @ AAA Scranton as a 25-year-old: • Homered every 11.8 PA (12 HR in 142 PA + 5 HR in 56 PA @ CPX/AA)

Only 50 major league hitters hit a single pitch 114 mph or more all of last season. Brennen Davis did it on his third batted ball of the spring.

Angels ownership is worse than the A's, Rockies or Pirates, and yet most people gloss over them cuz all anybody wants to talk about is the Dodgers. Absolutely zero desire to be competitive or provide a positive fan experience. Arte thinks the Halos are a theme park ride.

Kyle Tucker will be making $60 million per season with the Dodgers. If he wanted to, he could pay the salaries of an MLB team’s entire minor league system… 13 times over.

Using FanGraphs Guts! (halved) historical park factors, here's how moving in the fences 10 feet impacted scoring at Kauffman the last time they did it (1995-2003). More HR, less 2B and 3B, more scoring overall (comparable to Fenway or GABP's PF today)

Miami also looking for a "hitting/catching coach" with duties reading like what would be considered a MiLB coordinator position in the Texas org. I guess these things happen, but kind of weird from my limited viewpoint, as the Rangers (per custom) announced their complete staff last week.

I value hitters with positive defensive upside more highly for offensive production too (all things being equal) because the good defenders will get a lot more time in a starting spot to figure it out. If the defense sucks and he isn't hitting, you can't play him. Caissie just needs playing time.

Year 3 Prospects @txprospects.bsky.social · 08/01/2026
Edward Cabrera is definitely worth Owen Caissie if he stays healthy... but using the word "extreme" to describe his health risk is actually understating it. I don't like giving up relatively safe bats w/ upside after a disappointing cup of coffee for middle-aged pitchers with arm injury history.

Jonathon Long and Moises Ballesteros were incredibly similar hitters during their time in Iowa this past year. But I’ve highlighted some things that stand out as different between the two, most importantly: Long is FAR more patient, on pitches both IN and OUT of the zone H/t @tjstats.ca

Evidently the owner of one major league team can buy the affiliates of another club he does not own, and somehow there is no legally-problematic conflict of interest here.

In a proportional direct democratic system, you could narrow the applicants for the bench on any given case to those who have submitted an approach piece (detailing their current feelings in the case and their approach towards adjudicating the issue) and had it roundly supported by the citizenry.

One side of this debate (Bonica) uses rigorous models & data to come to empirically-based conclusions, & interprets them in an unbiased manner. The other uses the term "ninety seven bajillion" and badmouths their opposition w/o listing any supporting evidence. You're not an expert or a scientist.

I have thought pretty hard on how to respond to this as one of the “creatives” whose work is being “scraped” here. Plain and simple: this is theft of very hard work that only a handful of people are qualified to do, stripped of all relevant context. It is not a “cool” or “fun” use of AI.
