When I hear about the Cornell 7, I had just had an experience at the playground with my daughter. It serves to remind us of the patriarchal structures that allowed such an apparently disgusting rape and complicity to have occurred.

There’s increasing discussion about forced treatment in Ontario; I’m doing a series over on Instagram around it. Here’s part 1: have we been here before?

Just when I think I can’t hate OpenAI and Sam Altman any more, new details come out about how ChatGPT helped a shooter plan one of the worst mass shootings in Canadian history in Tumbler Ridge, BC. OpenAI made an explicit decision not to report the user to authorities.

Ebola has a running head start. By the time the outbreak in DRC was detected, there were already many suspected cases and deaths. We’ve seen if you reach an Ebola outbreak in days, you can stop it in weeks. Months of delay? It will take much longer. That’s why countries need to surge support now.

My heart breaks 💔for what so many communities are going through right now. Healthcare workers I met were tremendously capable, including managing complex #ebola outbreaks in a complex geography, despite consistent exposure to violence, colonial harms, inadequate resources and ongoing exploitation.
