A quick post test, also cloudy skies so I've been playing umamusume.

So true, I had no idea you were versed in mage customs

Please bsky don't butcher the quality

I photographed the Elephant's Trunk nebula over the last 3 nights. The dark nebulosity and sharp structures were very fun to process. #astrophotography #photography #space #astronomy

The Elephant Trunk Nebula shot from a wider view. 5 hours each of Sulfur, Hydrogen and Oxygen data on a 2600 mm camera using astronomik filters.

Actually you’re probably right on the collimation.

110

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

I did collimate right before imaging so (hopefully) it should be ok, but who knows. The main problem is two vertical black lines that keep appearing. It might be a bad frame somewhere

010

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Update: processing is going poorly. I think my focusing was poor because I keep getting an artifact when I try to process the image. That or maybe I just need to redo some things

Admiring Vega (her star is currently high in the sky in the Summer Triangle)

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

That’s not to take away from the photo - it’s very good, much better than my attempts

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Hand tracking is pretty standard for planet photography. You capture a video and later stack from the video frames. As long as the planet stays in view the placement and staying perfectly aligned doesn’t matter.

100

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Made myself learn FireCapture (before I was using the ASI planetary software a couple years ago) to retry planetary imaging. I’ll work on processing tomorrow most likely.

That’s very well done! Do you like your PlayerOne cam?

Disappointed these are going to be legal. especially based on a secret lair. I'm not surprised about this decision, but regardless it is disappointing.

Summer has kept me working late, but I still find to stargaze. Most of the time though it’s now relegated to a late night walk or run, but it’s very relaxing.

FNM events don’t fire at my locals anymore. They’re still offered but players have moved on to One Piece, Neuroscape and Lorcana.

All the issues people have been complaining about for the past 5-10 years are finally reaching the breaking point: rampant power creep, insane amount of printed cards, IP dilution, and standard is in the gutter. Magic could get away with it before because there was no real competition.

Someone who can do a lot of drawings for me (paid of course)

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

thank you @ plutokiller.com for your unbiased opinion, very cool

At the end of the day it's a drawing, don't let it ruin your day. Having creative freedom to draw or post whatever we want also means others have that same freedom as well.

010

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

A good example is in deep space nine. Captain Sisko’s dad runs a restaurant on Earth. food doesn’t need to be cooked anymore and it’s free, but he does it by hand just for the love of the game. You don’t have to join Star Fleet either, &vast majority aren’t qualified for it. We just see the best 3/3

They’re also generally helping other races, cultures and able to see parts of the universe they never would otherwise. Not all economies in Star Trek work like this though; plenty of other races and societies are in various stages of development and have different philosophies about money. 2/3

110

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

No one *has* to work in the human societies anymore. Food, healthcare and most other needs have been solved, and currency doesn’t exist on Earth anymore. Most people choose to do part time work anyways though, either as a hobby or for pride; it’s part of why people sign up for Star fleet 1/3

M27, the Dumbbell nebula. I shot the nebula in narrowband this year from my driveway. The core is difficult to process due to the long exposures, but I wanted to bring out the faint halo around it. #astrophotography #photography #space #astronomy

The dumbbell nebula shot in hydrogen alpha and oxygen using 5 minute exposures. There is a blanket of stars around it

0201

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

It’s tiny and faint, but I saw Uranus and a couple of its moons tonight (probably Titania and Oberon) #astronomy #astrophotography #space

The planet Uranus. Two of its moons are visible nearby, with a third by its upper left edge

A quick test exposure of the Dumbbell nebula from last night. I’ll get to processing my work this weekend

That definitely helps! That could be pretty nice. Definitely would need to pick up supplies before driving out but I could easily see myself spending a couple days out there. Bonus if there’s stuff to do nearby or in driving distance during the day (hiking trails or other activities).

Dummy Mage @twoint.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

Working on the Dumbbell nebula, albeit from a shorter focal length. The clouds moved in last night to cut my session short but I should be finished after another night.

Uhhh it’s tempting but also a very long drive. It’s more of a bachelor vacation, and if there’s nowhere to sleep outside of my car or a tent I doubt I could convince anyone else to come with me.
