This clueless dude (Cooper’s Hawk) just went after a hummingbird. The sparrows I get, but that less-than-bite-sized speeding bullet of a bird? Laughable.

One of the less bright Cooper’s hawks I’ve seen sits on a tree branch with green maple leaves behind him. He may look spiffy with his dark brown wings and head, and the speckling of brown feathers against his white underside, but there’s nobody home upstairs. His bright yellow socks are impressive though. I give him eight stars for fashion and one for hunting acumen.

Same. It’s much easier to avoid things you didn’t love before. I never loved Wagner’s Ring Cycle so it’s not hard for me to avoid. It does make me sad that I’ve become tentative to love things just in case they are later taken from me by the creator’s hatefulness.

I hate the whole transphobe movement with the heat of a thousand suns. That said, I have a different take than the one below…things that you have loved, that have sparked your imagination, that have given you joy become part of your warp and weft. It is hard unweaving that.

Another (unlinked) post: The reason that the Harry Potter apologists won’t just read better books is because they’re not looking for good stories…if they were, they wouldn’t have glommed on to Harry Potter. They’re looking for the camaraderie and social phenomenon that Harry Potter was in the 2000s.
