I remember that as a joke - that if one broke their leg they'd have get in their car and wrap it around a tree to get healthcare for their leg.

Katie Zacharia sat on the advisory board of an organization that calls for women who have abortions to be executed “in the public square,” and for pro-choice Americans to lose their right to hold public office.

As usual, instead of coming to fruition, the realities of guaranteed equal rights for women gets used as just another thought experiment in an ever expanding pro patriarchal country.

US Women are still classified under coverture law status which is exactly why a specific law was needed in 1974 to allow women legal access to credit cards. Elayne Boosler talks about having no borrowing power in 1985 because access for women was denied still… so thanks for helping to prove my point

There's no US law which overturned coverture. Ratifying the ERA would do that. Justice Kennedy in 2016 reaffirmed certain tenets of coverture by invoking many longstanding tropes that have been deployed in defense of coverture defined by gender inequality. Women lost Constitutional Rights in 2022.

Replies like this is why today's US women do not have guaranteed equal rights. Because so many still believe it's so funny to keep US women in permanent second class status. Men run the world.

Existing US law does not treat women has having guaranteed equal rights. US law in many cases treats women differently because of the fact US women still live under coverture law status.

Ah, it's you who doesn't know what coverture is. Coverture holds that no female person has a legal identity. US's Founding Fathers put all US women as slaves under men when placing them under coverture law, and that's where women remain. Only something like ratification of the ERA can change that.

Well you go find where it was overturned and get back to me. Because today's US women still are navigating their lives as second class citizens and dealings because they are still living under coverture law status.

tuttles @tuttles.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
It's been chipped away at, however, it still exists and all US women still live under that classification. US women just lost Constitutional Rights in 2022. This was easily possible because US women do not have guaranteed equal rights and are still classified under coverture law.

tuttles @tuttles.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Bah! It's happening because a majority in the US balked at the idea of ending women's coverture law status by ratifying the ERA. Once the ERA gets ratified it'll finally lift more then half the US population out of second class status and finally guarantee equal rights for all.

Women cannot win the office of US president. Again the odds are 18 trillion to one… so basically insurmountable. Hell US still live under coverture law and cannot even obtain guaranteed equal rights. Just the idea of ratifying the ERA in this country is insurmountable.

Wrong. Neither Clinton or Harris can be compared to men because men in the US can actually win the presidency while women can not win.

Nah. Clinton campaigned like crazy in places like Pennsylvania. Every US woman knows going into a male dominated field they start 5-8% in the hole. The idea Clinton viewed winning an easy layup was all a myth conjured up by men Bernie supporters who like pretending women have guaranteed equal rights

Platner had tons of red flags & I objected to him before he won his primary. There's not much that can be done about candidates at this point with ballots being printed already but pick to vote GOP or Dem. What's strange is how much all of you didn't like Mills & she strongly supported trans rights.

The Becerra misrepresentation wasn’t an anomaly. A check of all 27 Democrats on Erin Reed’s list reveals a pattern: fabricated citations, truncated quotes, erased pro-trans votes, and reckless advice. The guide: www.erininthemorning.com/p/the-guid… 🧵👇

In the US cis white men have always had it better than other demographics, that's not ever going to change. Plus with GOP pushing to only allow cis white men the right to vote things easily can get much worse very fast for everyone else. It's interesting how ok you are in making things worse for you

Except for a couple things: No one's run on that and it's exactly how Orbán was ousted. Every single Democratic presidential elect running from 2016 to 2024 has run on improving Universal Healthcare, keeping prices low, and raising the minimum wage. It's only worked once.
