'Requiem For Gaza' Bears Witness To A People Israel Cannot Erase - PopularResistance.Org
Genocide seeks to destroy more than lives. It seeks to erase a people’s history, culture and memory—and bury the evidence beneath the rubble. At the launch of Requiem for Gaza, Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Chris Hedges explains how he and cartoonist Joe Sacco set out to preserve what Israel’s destruction threatens to obliterate: the voices and experiences of Palestinians themselves. Drawing on interviews with 29 Palestinian families who fled to Egypt, Hedges describes parents struggling to protect their children, survivors haunted by the relatives they left behind, and the devastation of a society’s doctors, writers and journalists.
