I really want to use Divvy when I’m back next month but there’s just no way to make the price make sense except for a couple short trips. Sad especially with Divvy innovating in other ways. Curious whether the day passes bring in enough revenue from rich tourists to offset the lost potential sales.

Jacob Lawrence, The Library, 1978. Lawrence loved libraries, where he did research for his paintings from early on in his career, most notably at Harlem's Schomburg Center. He made numerous pictures of libraries that celebrate the librarians & library workers who keep them running

I'm giving extra points to the one that uses fractional numbers: syvoghalvfemsindstyve seven-and-half-five-twenty (7+4.5*20) Though I guess you could argue the modern shortenings are simpler than the French even if the etymology is more unhinged. Then again some places have septante and nonante.

If you go for bagels, just be aware that Fairmount and St. Viateur only take cash (or a Canada-specific type of debit). You can pay in American cash but the same face value so about a 40% markup. St. Viateur just installed a new POS system so they might take card now, I’ll check next time I go.

You could use that as an excuse to take the REM to Île-des-Sœurs and Bixi from there, or you can also get to the Promenade from Parc Jean-Drapeau. The garden sculptures on Île Notre-Dame are also very cool. Habitat 67 tour.

A few ideas: hiking the mountain is worth it if you haven’t before, you can also take the stairs or a bus to make it shorter if you’re tight on time. Might be too hard with timing but the Promenade Fluviale is really cool, recently repaved wide bike trail on a dike along the St. Lawrence.
