What’s this lil dude so happy about? You’ll have to head to swanboy.com to find out

for instance, her bike safety infrastructure advocacy: great her demeanor and attitude towards constituents who disagree with her: horrifyingly offputting

This is a very good point and the thing to understand is that’s not what’s happening on either side. The republicans are identifying all the people they want to target for degradation and a repeal of their civil rights. The democrats are giving a list of who they’re okay to do that to.

Anti-trans dems aren't event talking about sports anymore. They're just being anti-trans, period.

a lot of people act like there's a trade being offered where we give up trans athletes in sports and in exchange fascism is defeated forever

i guess my take on the whole "should we throw trans people under the bus y/n" thing is that in this sort of environment, where the opposition party shot itself repeatedly in the dick and balls by starting an illegal war that made gas cost a million dollars, it shouldn't even be on the table

when will all the people happy to remind us of the 80-20 thing acknowledge the 80-20 thing is ranked 16/16 on issues people consider when voting
130
audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
will it actually net a positive? nobody outside the most repugnant transphobes ranks us as an issue urgently needing to be addressed. on the contrary, many many people, including trans people, rank the economy and cost of living as their number one issue. stay focused on repub failures there.

audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
sure polling on trans sports stuff is abysmal atm but outside of the rabid transphobes whose votes are ungettable/unwanted in the big tent, it ranks SO low on issues people have at the front of their mind when voting. Just dont pick up the wedge and it doesnt work.
000
audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
no, the dem politicians who kicked all this off need to not pick up the wedge and instead remain as steadfast to the rights I already had. they should remain focused on actual issues people care about in the races they are in. see abdul el sayed for an example of this in practice

buddy don't I know it

who picked up the wedge? it wasn't me! I already said I'm not interested in continuing this convo. Have a good night.

it hurts enough that I'm not really interested in continuing this conversation. I like your posts about figure skating but I'd rather not come on here to discuss which of my rights I should be willing to give up. genuinely, hope you have a good night.

And how does this get them into office? Now he's playing on the GOP's turf with their distracting shiny toy instead of actually going after their horrible record on things that impact the 99% of people who aren't trans. It legitimately hurts to be told I shouldn't find this completely alienating.

audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
this actually impacts me. I am actively working to be allowed to skate in the appropriate category. Every dem saying "oh sure, they're right on this one thing" is a loss. They should BE the Obama in this situation. What's stopping them? Why are they embracing the losing Lis Smith playbook?
100
audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
...by voting in Ds who agree with them on the issue? listen to what you are saying.
110
audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
for an example closer to home, what use is it having someone like John Fetterman having a D next to his name when he's going to GOP rallies and supporting GOP politicians?
100
audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Like I already said - the UK is the prime example of what happens when D's adopt anti-trans talking points. There just aren't enough trans people for us to fight this on our own. If you're on my side you should be telling OUR politicians not to give an inch on this stuff! accepting it is surrender.
100
audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
and where is that energy now? adopting republican lite talking points on *taking away rights I already have* is allowing them to drive the conversation in the opposite direction. If my vote isn't wanted it isn't wanted, but then they can't be mad at me for that.

sounds like exactly what politicians are asking trans people to do by voting for the people smearing us on false pretenses
060
audrey @trubble.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
No, they normalize moving to the right on issues that impact our lives and how we move through society and threatening to withhold our vote is the only tool we have. Look at the UK - it was the UK liberals who passed the laws banning trans people from using toilets that match their gender.

all the most outspoken local NIMBYs and landlords actively campaigned for him, posting everywhere that the city was moving in the wrong direction with all the development and bike lanes, promising all these things would be reversed with yousef in the mayor’s office. it was a coalition.

if you walked around burns park before the primary the difference in support was obvious - anyone with a “pause the plan” sign also had a Rabhi sign. Neighbors for more neighbors signs were paired with Taylor signs. Burns park is a wealthy downtown neighborhood sure, but not 100% NIMBY by any means
