We love trans stories. We love reading them, sharing them, and yapping about them. We love getting recs and building aspirational TBRs. #transrightsreadathon (part 1 of 4)
A small logo of the Trans Rights Readathon appears in the bottom lefthand corner of the image. On a jewel-toned psychedelic background, text reads: PRIZE POOL. Have you done any fundraising during this year’s readathon? Have you financially supported a campaign? We have a (mostly) digital prize pool that some lovely donors have put together to thank you!An image of a phone surrounded by headphones shows the Libro.fm logo. Text reads: Libro.fm credits. A 6-credit audio bundle.Text reads: We love seeing your colorful book posts. We love hearing from authors that they’re getting more traffic, sales, and reviews.A stylized image of a laughing woman in a partially sheer dress appears in the middle of the screen. Last year, our team got a little overwhelmed and our message about fundraising fell by the wayside. This year, we’ve added multiple ways to get involved! #transrightsreadathon #trr26 #booksky #transrightsarehumanrights
Psychedelic squiggles appear on all slides in multiple ombre tones. Text reads: Fundraising and the TRR. In addition to celebrating trans+ authors and stories, the readathon is a decentralized fundraiser. Here’s what we’re doing to encourage fundraising this year…The Point of Pride logo appears in the middle of the page. Text reads: Auction. We’re hosting a 32Auction on behalf of Point of Pride, linked on the main page of our website.Text reads: Digital Prize Pool. Authors, publishers, and other digital creators have contributed to a prize pool for folks who “give where they live.” Those who run their own fundraisers or contribute to campaigns will be eligible to enter! An envelope graphic appears in the middle of the page. Text reads: Digital Prize Pool (part 2). International entrants can win without worrying about shipping costs. The entry form and instructions will be made available toward the end of the readathon.

Our second author spotlight is Victoria Zeller, a trans writer and former football player and sports journalist. Victoria Zeller’s book is especially important and timely with trans rights to play in sports is being questioned. "One of the Boys" releases 13 May 2025. #booksky #transrightsreadathon
Image 1: cover of One of the Boys by Victoria Zeller over the words Trans Rights Readathon. The bottom text reads “TRR Author Interview."Image 2: the top of a bubble reads “interview with Victoria Zeller”. Text in the bubble reads “Victoria Zeller (she/her) is a trans writer born and raised in Buffalo, New York. A former football player and lifelong fan, her initial focus was sports journalism before she made a sharp pivot to writing about queers who can’t stay out of trouble.”Image 3: A “Q” or question: What made you want to write about Grace and her relationship with football? Then “A” or answer: I've always been fascinated by the fraught relationships that athletes can have with the sport they love, and as a trans woman with a long history in football, this was a story I felt uniquely equipped to tell.Image 4: A “Q” or question: What do you hope readers take away from One of the Boys? Then “A” or answer: The trans community (and queer community more broadly) is not homogenous! Trans girls, especially, do not fit into the neat little boxes society like to stuff us in.

Hi, friends! A few days ago, we shared an IG📸 post from an author who was unwillingly outed by readers in 2023. We have a few notes we want to share for how to keep the readathon safe and successful for everyone. 💕 #trr25 #transrightsreadathon
Slide 1: Trans Rights Readathon Social Etiquette.Slide 2: What and Who is This Post For? This post is a reminder for us all on how to respectfully participate in the Trans Rights Readathon, whether this is your first time on bookish social media, you are an ally, or you simply have any hesitation on the “right” way to participate respectfully.Slide 3: DON’T OUT AUTHORS. First and foremost, the Trans Rights Readathon supports trans folks and wants to minimize harm to real people. In years past, authors have felt pressured and obligated to out themselves to readers in order to be included in the Readathon.
Because we never want to forcibly out an author, we promote books that are written by trans+ authors OR feature trans+ main characters. Do not ask or pressure authors to disclose details of their identity that are not already public.Slide 4: Think Before You Review (especially if you are cisgender!) Before you rate a book negatively, ask yourself:
• Is there a reason I “don’t relate” to this story?
• What is my intention in posting a negative review right now? Can it wait a few weeks?
• What are my trans peers saying about this same book?
Especially ask yourself these questions for intersectional trans stories, such as books by BIPOC authors if you are a white reader.
