The little bulls enjoying sparing but its mostly learning and practice. No intent to hurt anymoose. Serious business though, a third little guy in this group had broken most of one antler off! Anchorage #Alaska 🦊🫎

I'm not done with moose yet! One of the up and coming local bull moose. He stays clear of the big guys but is still engaged in the rut as he and a lovely cow were steaming up the forest when I last saw him. Anchorage #Alaska 🦊🫎

Perhaps my favorite area moose but he's been playing hard to get this fall, either hiding or way up a mountain. Finally I endured an epic hike through the alders to catch up with him (then he led me back to where I started and he knew a better route). Chugach State Park #Alaska 🦊🫎

Several of the Moose in one of the parks I frequent are blind in one eye. Presumably battle scars from taking on a bull with very long brow tines. They seem none the worse for it, I guess they get enough info from sound and smell. Anchorage #Alaska 🦊

Early and late in the rut bull moose can be quite sociable but when time to mate heats up they have little tolerance for each other. The little guy here is eating Devil's Club. Painful to touch but they like it. Anchorage #Alaska 🦊

I've heard that ravens sometimes help wolves looking for moose, well I can confirm that this Bald Eagle was no help to me in my search. Just sat and watched. I guess they just want dead salmon this time of year. Anchorage #Alaska #BirdsSeenIn2026 🪶
