Wang Yibo looking uncomfortable in a crowd, at a party, at a fashion show, is the most perennially relatable content. The part where he looks stunning doing it, less relatable.

Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Especially if he just recently lost a cat. There has to be a mourning period before he gets another and you could be there for him through that. When are you going?? (So exciting)

This is where framing the debate is so important. We have to take back terms like "productivity," so it means "making things that we need more of," not "making more things."

ICE has fallen out of the headlines but July marked the largest number of migrant detentions ever on record. Five migrants have died in ICE custody in the last two months. It's also currently impossible to legally migrate to this country, as 100% of visa applications have been paused.

"Functional Weakness," aka "I don't have the tools/knowledge/expertise to diagnose this so it must be imagined." I'm really sorry. The medical profession is so problematic when it comes to anything they can't easily understand via a few standardized tests.

I find it kind of refreshing to see Carville fully unmasked as the useless, vicious anti-progress hater he always was. A lot of older dems still think wistfully of the Clinton years and it's a relief to have the ugliness of it all laid bare.

The willful ignorance is BEYOND. Like, it's so much work to be this clueless about a disease we've been living with for more than 6 years and that behaves actually rather predictably.

I think these breeds are basically homebodies. Lily does love her walks but she often drags me home well before I'm ready to go.

Ah, yes, I can't blame him. Do you have a park nearby? My dog hates my favorite walk, which is the "not park" walk and often drags me in protest toward the park.

Trouble Me @troubleme.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
In fairness to your dog, he has very little legs for walking.

Absolutely - the laws exist and they are entirely capable of using them in the weaponized way you describe. The fact that they aren't invoked in so many instances suggests to me there is a large category of false reports the police and other authorities thrive on.

As someone who tends to write in moments of grief and joy, and sometimes share those things I write with people who aren't always comfortable with emotional expression, I think most of the time the sharing has been appreciated. I could just be telling myself that, but it's felt true.

Last week we had a check in with supervisors to hear about the wonderful new "AI" efficiencies and GUESS WHAT??!! Nothing but complaints about AI SLOP. I'm not sure whether to 🤣 or 😭. Cue Helena Bonham Carter in A Room with a View saying, "But of course [...], what did you all think?"

Trouble Me @troubleme.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
They say they appreciate my position but respectfully disagree and have spent much of the last year pushing "AI" on our staff (supposedly regulating use that was already happening but that's not at all how it's played out imo).
120
Trouble Me @troubleme.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
I've spent the last year-ish fighting (and losing the battle against) the integration of "AI" into my workplace. I'm technically an org "leader" but outnumbered and essentially alone on this (and other issues) so I've begged them to read what I share and consider the consequences, etc. etc.

If you decide not to, you might consider sharing what you wrote with a smaller group of people who know you and/or knew your aunt and will be able to hold the loss with you in a way that feels supportive.
130
Trouble Me @troubleme.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
There might also be people who just can't deal (it sounds like you suspect this, esp given the unwillingness to read it for you). I think you get to decide if their feelings will undercut the value of sharing those stories with them. No right or wrong here.
150
Trouble Me @troubleme.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
In every crowd there are likely to be some people who are especially grateful that you brought in something so personal and meaningful, because they'll have known your aunt and you'll have shared something she did that connects with aspects of who she was that they probably appreciated too.
130
Trouble Me @troubleme.bsky.social · 27/07/2026
I don't think you'd be doing that. If you told those stories at a memorial to my family, they'd be appreciated. And not true for everyone's families. That doesn't mean you shouldn't share, it just means you probably should decide based on how you'll feel about it regardless of how it's received.

A very brief stop in Reykjavik last week on my way home from almost two weeks of work in London. I didn't see much, but I did see this.
Rainbow Street in Reykjavik (shop-lined street painted in rainbow colors) on a gray, rainy day. There are benches and small trees along both sides of the street and it looks like it's closed to cars.

There's nothing inherently embarrassing about sharing deeply personal connections to someone you loved and are honoring. The question for me would be, how are you going to feel (if you could read it or get someone to read it) sharing those stories with the people who will be there.

Where I live in New England, we never water grass either. Well, some people do, but most don't and it's entirely unnecessary. Summers have always been wet. But at least the last couple years, August and Sept have been dry and grass has gotten pretty dull well before it should.

Almost all the grass in Hyde Park is dead. I don't remember it that way. Is it the heat? Drought? Have I just never been in London in July? (I've been here in August and I remember it green.)

They do not want *this*, no matter how ill-defined, or possibly undefinable, *this* is. And they certainly do not want people who are super into crypto or AI or funding ICE but training them better, basically, they do not want the Dem waiter to KEEP BRINGING THEM THE SOUP, SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT 7/x
