haha yeah I was still getting notifications anyway because I guess I was part of the thread earlier. Might be able to make it in the afternoon, need to wait for a delivery

I still remember when he wrote about startups in London, eventually got his website to go bankrupt and at some point showed up at some startup event and just got punched in the face.

The right 80 year old who was in Home Alone 2

Are they already serving food? I remember Dave (the owner) told me they'd started serving food at some point but not sure if they already started.

Considering how hard they push threads from instagram (and they're making it even more and more insidious) I wouldn't be surprised if these numbers are very artificially inflated.

Heck, Prototype (the framework) still mentions those older patterns in their docs: prototypejs.org/learn/class-... Dojo was also pushing it somewhat hard: dojotoolkit.org/documentatio...

prototypejs.org

Prototype JavaScript Framework | Defining classes and inheritance

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 09/08/2026

True, but you could do "fake classes" with prototypes which many were doing at the time (specially those coming from a Java/Ruby background) and he pushed against that trend. There may have been others pushing against it but at least he's the most influential person I remember doing it at the time.

010

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 09/08/2026

I guess that trend really started with Crockford and had been popular in some swathes of the JS community but yeah, React definitely exacerbated it specially after hooks came into the picture.

What if the Saturn had succeeded and we were all stuck with squares instead? Wait, never mind, Nvidia had the only non Saturn square rendering GPU anyway so I guess we'd still be here 😩

I spent a crazy amount of money on one of these last year

010

sort by new rather than top. you'll find the cranks.

000

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 22/12/2025

Hah fair. I considered ordering a random seemingly compatible battery from AliExpress but I wasn't sure which connector I needed and was afraid it could be sketchy (the main compatible one I found had a black friday deal for 1 euro). Keychron sorted it out even if they don't sell this model anymore

000

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 22/12/2025

Oh no. What keyboard was it? I have a replacement battery on the way for my Keychron (at least from the official source) and I’m now somewhat concerned 😅

This was the guy I got the replacement switches from: ents.win Unfortunately he doesn't ship to europe anymore but you can find some more knowledge and info there.

000

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 09/12/2025

There's videos of people doing other weird hacky hardware fixes (in the case of the G Pro at least). I ended up replacing the switches on mine a few years back, but it eventually developed another issue so I recently replaced it with a G Pro 2 which has optical switches, not prone to that issue.

000

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 09/12/2025

if that uses the Omron Black Shell Blue Dot like the first gen Logitech G Pro (which I believe they do) then yeah, it's common. Someone told me you can "increase the debounce time" to try and fix double clicking but I have no idea if that's a software or hardware fix.

000

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 09/12/2025

I wonder if this happens mostly because a lot of developers who choose Unity are more PC centric and have no experience with console development therefore not knowing how to port their games well over there. I know of someone who used to work for Unity and became a consultant doing only that job.

000

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 25/11/2025

Based on personal experience and conversations with others this seems to be a trend in the last couple of years. Lots of places who want you to be experienced with the exact technologies they use or problems they're solving. It's nuts.

010

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 28/10/2025

My perception is that some people have used some multi region things like CDNs or workers and think everything else is as easy to make multi region.

000

Tiago @trodrigues.net · 28/10/2025

Are you playing the gamepass or xbox app version? I've had weird issues with save corruption on the xbox app before and on multiple occasions and I'm not sure I'll trust it moving forward.

Technically the MIT license under which he distributed the code does not require this (as he does acknowledge in the tweet) github.com/CookiePLMons... They don't have to authorize it, but yes it would've been nice to let them know.

I specially find it funny that they published the original which when read by any reasonable person will immediately make you understand the manipulation attempts.

Now that Cohost is essentially dead, I'm going to tell a story about why caving to extremists doesn't work. When I first signed up for Cohost, some "concerned people" wrote to staff saying that I was using the Cohost platform to "provoke KF" (by posting factual info about deplatforming status).

Do double check if it's indeed using your 5Ghz connection in case you're using wifi. Not sure if they fixed this since launch but it seems to have a nasty habit of preferring 2.4Ghz if your router has both enabled.

even aftermath is "profitable", in that we make more money than we spend. the issue has never been about profitability in the space. it's that inept ownership across the board just dont think its profitable ENOUGH.

kotaku was profitable for almost its entire pre-G/O existence, raking in 20-40 million unique visitors a month on a relative shoestring budget (6-15ish people, vs competitors with dozens or even 100s of staff).

I've been happy with DDG for a long time now. DDG also had the issue for a long time that it was terrible if you weren't in an english speaking country (even searching things in other languages would return you results in english) but since around 2021 or so it got a lot better.
