Just take an escalator, walk across a city block, up another escalator, and down two escalators to get to the airport. Also all the escalators will definitely work, trust me.
Graphic of Pioneer Square to "North of CID" station transfer from Lines 2 and 3 to Line 1 with multiple escalators between concourse levels.

If you're commuting to UW from the Rainier Valley, or trying to catch a flight with luggage from Lynnwood, waiting for two elevators or taking at least two escalators sounds miserable compared to just walking or rolling across the platform. SODO is really the only opportunity for a good transfer.

Generational mistake not to design same direction cross-platform transfers at SODO, but the bridge looks cool. RIP Avalon Station.

Americans getting out-protested by French teenagers. Hope we can get permits for the next No Kings march after the midterms 🤡

A simple errand that would have taken 3 buses a decade ago.

I complain about Link all the time but it's kinda crazy that North Seattle has a subway now. Being able to just pick up food in the U-District on my way home has been transformative.

Probably wouldn't wear a helmet every time I cycle if I lived in a city with a real bike network.

First time actually using Pinehurst and just have to mention again how painfully loud it is waiting for a train. Slightly less loud up on the platform but noticeably worse than Shoreline South or Northgate since it’s right up against the freeway.

It's rough. Very much still a vehicular cycling situation if you don't like riding on narrow sidewalks.

And unpredictably, proximity to I-5 means this station is LOUD af. I didn't know how long I'd last upon arriving. It's significantly quieter along 5th Ave behind the wall of the elevators and escalators, so I think that's where I'll hide if I miss my train.

Wish I could say the same thing for pedestrian and bike access west of the station. Super disappointing this is still the state of 130th on opening day. Forced into a very narrow sidewalk from 1st Ave across I-5.

Well the Pinehurst Station opening event exceeded all expectations. This many people showing up on a Wednesday afternoon is for an infill station is genuinely impressive. The Boop line took about an hour 😳

It sucks the best case scenario here is like, rezoning the course so a bunch of people can live next to a loud freeway that will give their kids asthma. I would rather return the neighborhood back to farmland tbh.

Not a huge fan of Transit Oriented Golf, but the golf course was kinda there first, and is open to the public unlike some other private urban golf courses in the same city (Broadmoor 👀).

Just toured them yesterday. They have 40% increased capacity and are kinda nice? My last trip on the Cascades was on an ancient Amfleet that cost almost $100 one way, so I'm pretty hyped for these.

Stone Way has gotta be the lowest hanging fruit in the whole city to improve the bike network.

It's fun to read comments about how my soon-to-be most used Link station (Pinehurst) was unnecessary, a waste of money, in the middle of nowhere, etc.

Stayed in a courtyard apartment in Kreuzberg a three minute walk from the U-Bahn, a ten minute walk from the S-Bahn that could drop me off by a forest (not much PNW standards but still).

And Berlin is still full of cars and highways, and it's probably not going to get better soon, but damn that rail network.

I would probably take Amtrak from Everett Station instead of King Street if I were going to Bellingham or Vancouver BC, but unfortunately doesn't look like the current preferred alternative will provide a good transfer to the existing Everett Station.

A random person should not be able to know your work schedule because of how loud your car is pulling in/out of the parking lot.

Even then it's like I can get a replacement battery kit on iFixit for under $40 with pretty easy to follow instructions. I can see myself getting at least another 2-3 years out of this phone.

For all the hate that Apple gets for planned obsolescence, I'm surprised my six year old SE still gets major updates. Every Samsung phone I owned prior got two years max of official updates before I installed a custom ROM.

That's great, but unfortunately wouldn't have helped much since I lived south of that section. And half-hourly is pretty rough when you need to make a transfer to another half-hourly bus. Wish we could bump that to 20 minutes. But exciting nonetheless.

When I lived on the 8 route, it was so frustrating that the last bus ended at 12:30. It connects some pretty major nightlife hubs and would make a great addition to the night owl network.

Actually surprising it's that high. Also wtf is going on in Turks and Caicos?
Table of top 3 countries by Intentional homicide rates per 100,000 inhabitants with Turks and Caicos Islands at first place with 103.149, followed by Haiti at 64.336, and Saint Kitts and Nevis at 59.774.

Assuming downtown includes SLU, pretty sure the only other high-rise rooftop bar in the city is the Mountaineering Club in the U-District. Hope some of the proposed towers in the U-District there sitting in limbo will have a public rooftop if they're ever built.

Living in this area and going over the hill to Broadview genuinely pisses me off. Suddenly you stop hearing the constant hum of cars and can literally breathe, but the neighborhood doesn't even have a bench for people who can't live there.

Can we just be a real city and allow neighborhood commercial everywhere? Why have any exclusively residential areas. What are we afraid will happen if someone can open a cafe or grocery store a few blocks from the narrow corridors where they’re currently allowed?

Also interesting how it operates in that people generally won't say "hi" on a sidewalk or public transit, but will on a narrow path, or a trail.

I will always respond when someone addresses me, because to ignore would be rude, but I kinda like the "freeze". It's a unique local/regional quirk, and I like that people default to giving each other space in public.

The thing with Minneapolis is that they make their waterfronts public parks lined with long and continuous all ages bike trails. Here in Seattle (outside of downtown) we let a few rich homeowners take that away from us. If they can’t play nice, they should be eminent domained lol

in earnest though: noise pollution is legitimately a very serious public health issue that does not ever get enough attention despite the extremely well documented direct harm that it causes, let alone how aggressively antisocial this behavior is. no exaggeration, cube all of these cars instantly.
