it’s okay, though! they only did them for 13 teams (there’s also a Cardinals one not in the video they posted) it’s normal and healthy for 13 out of 30 owners to suck shit, right?

@baumann.bsky.social congrats on getting quoted on Jeopardy tonight
$2000 clue:

The Ringer called the cover of "Lady Marmalade" off this movie's soundtrack "a heater, a jam & a bop"The cover of “Lady Marmalade,” produced by Missy Elliott and sung by a murderer’s row of ’90s pop chanteuses, is a heater, a jam, and a bop.

This being a Luhrmann movie, sometimes Moulin Rouge! poured it on a little thick. (Medical infomercial voice-over: If you lived in a college dorm between 2001 and 2007, or were exposed to theater kids singing “Elephant Love Medley” or “El Tango de Roxanne,” you may be entitled to financial compensation.) But it’s hard to find fault with the soundtrack’s sole original number, “Come What May,” which brought tears to audiences’ eyes and poor Ewan McGregor to his tippy-toes as he tried to belt out those high notes, and almost 20 years later, convinced the world that two Canadian figure skaters were more than just teammates. The greatest love you’ll ever learn is for this one duet from Moulin Rouge! —Baumann

they’re going to kowtow to it—they’ve already taken the “diversity” off the MLB DEI page! the left image here is www.mlb.com/diversity-an... as it was on December 14, 2024 the right is how it is now
Two windows of the same webpage side-by-side, with sections labeled “Mission and Vision” and “Our Pillars.” The second one has subsections called “People,” “Culture,” and “Community.”

The “Mission and Vision” section on the older left image says “To support and sustain a diverse and inclusive culture, on and off the field, wherein the power of our collective creates a meaningful experience for our people, our fans and our communities. We strive to provide a rewarding and prosperous environment for our employees, to be the sport of choice for a growing fan base, and to be a responsible steward of our communities.” On the right, the “Mission and Vision” section says “To support and sustain an inclusive culture, on and off the field, wherein the power of our collective creates a meaningful experience for our people, our fans and our communities. We strive to provide a rewarding and prosperous environment for our employees, to be the sport of choice for a growing fan base, and to be a responsible steward of our communities.” The core difference is that “diverse” was removed.

The “People” subsection on the left reads “Our success is inherent in the diversity of our personnel, alongside our ability to recruit, retain, develop, promote and support each other.” On the right, the same subsection says “Our success is inherent in our ability to recruit, retain, develop, promote and support each other.” Again, the diversity is removed.

The “Culture” and “Community” sections remain unchanged on both sides. The “Culture” reads “Our commitment to empowering an inclusive environment built on acceptance, awareness, belonging, communication, leadership and respect.” The “Community” says “Our promise to use the power and character of our sport to strengthen communities where we live, work and play.”

Additionally, the left page features a special MLB logo which has “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion” next to it, whereas the right page just has the regular MLB logo.
