It's causing issues in dunes and grasslands across Europe and in Jersey. It's not one we want getting a toe hold if we can help it. We've removed what we can but they're sure to have dropped seed.

Cottonweed Achillea maritima toughing it out on the beach. Hayling Island, Hampshire. No sign of flowering in this recently introduced population. Most plants seem to have been swamped by sands from last winter's storms. #wildflowerhour @bsbibotany.bsky.social

When I first saw the word I pronounced it kwinoa but then realised that 'everyone' said keen-wah. If it's actually closer to kinoa/keenoa then maybe my initial attempt was more accurate than I thought! Inside my head it's still kwinoa.

Does this count as ultra-processed food? 🤔 🦦 Incredible scenes from Waterstock Local Wildlife Site as this kingfisher takes a break from its fresh-fish diet and attempts to eat an otter spraint! Thank you to our friend Henry Manisty for sharing his wonderful trail cam footage with us.

One of the Dropseed grasses Sporobolus spp. found by @sjthomasbotany.bsky.social recently on Hayling Island, Hampshire. Could be one of several similar species. An interesting discovery for sure, but worrying in terms of invasive potential. @bsbibotany.bsky.social
