Live performer reminds me of hearing her cover of White Rabbit from like the Today Show. I think it’s finally on Spotify. And the recent cover of Benny and the Jets. Yes, I concur. She’s amazing.

I just checked it out from the library! Well, technically I checked out the whole series in one book.

Seanan, yes. I got about four books in, might give it another go. I’ll see if her alter ego is in my local library.

Think? It should be part of the resistance handbook. At a semi-pro game right now, so it’s easy to imagine.

I read some fictitious thing about resistance talking about Canadian resistance fighters smacking grenades into camps with hockey sticks. Just imagine calling those shots.

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

Her cover of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is amazing. Yes, it’s from a kids show, some of the covers are amazing. open.spotify.com/track/4On5fc...

Fancy! I’ll download it. Also have to re-download Marked.

I’m oh The Laundry Files are great. Though I didn’t enjoy the last few. But I did enjoy his books outside the Laundry Files. As well as everything @scalzi.com has written. And The Dresden Files. And Kevin Hearne. And more others than I can remember. See my challenge? 😉

Ouch. I’m going to see the Chilliwack Chiefs vs Surrey Eagles who are 1, 2 in the standings. And I moved from Surrey to Chilliwack. Should be fun.

000

Yes! They are excellent. And read them all.

Need some new urban fantasy or sci-fi books to read. I’ve torn through most of the usual suspects. Even ChatGPT is like “dude, I don’t know what suggest anymore.” The biggest challenge is that I: like to read on my iPad & prefer to use the library. Even with access to 3 catalogs I come up empty

I think the only way for Carney to avoid becoming the shortest serving PM is not splitting the left of center vote. First past the post is flawed & we know it. So unless the NDP or Greens are a sure bet in your riding, you have to vote Liberal.

I’m going to brush up on my first aid with St. John’s. Perhaps also dust off some of my rusty, umm, “communications” skills. Yeah it’s a great show. I hope it sticks around for a while.

Oh FFS (as I turn the mic off on the Alexa devices).

Obsidian does look cool, I’ll look at it again. I used to do all my writing in tools like Ulysses purely focused on writing with no other stuff. Bear kinda falls into that zone, but does have more organize your life features.

Hmm. I guess I won’t be using the new machine soon. I thought about just starting clean and letting iCloud do its magic, but I don’t want to lose stuff I didn’t put on iCloud.

Peter Kyle using ChatGPT to test his policy ideas is such a non-story. I run most of my bad ideas through it, and you should too before inflicting them on my colleagues/clients/the world. Here's how to do it - and why it helps. A 🧵

I played so much rogue on the campus mainframe.

This should be the new textbook definition of irony.

@ttscoff.bsky.social what’s a good Markdown editor now? I was a huge fan of Ulysses, but unsubscribed when I wasn’t writing on my Mac as much. I still have Marked 2 installed. And MultiMarkdown Composer is installed.

Okay! I had been using Alfred for a long time and was wondering what was good now.

100

I didn’t watch that, but my wife loved it.

Okay Mac fans, it’s been a long (loonngg) time since I’ve had a machine capable of newer stuff (I could pretty much only have Chrome open to do anything.). So what are the must have apps now? I cleaned out a bunch of old utilities, etc recently because they were so out of date. Hit me w suggestions!

OMG yes! I’ll resubscribe to Apple TV+ just for that. I rewatch the darts scene and Roy Kent’s presser about knowing what’s going on in other peoples’ lives often for a boost/reminder.

Maybe Canada and Denmark need to invoke this before we need Article 5 (an attack on one is an attack on all, requiring mutual defense)

The North Atlantic Treaty

From the NATO charter: Article 4 :The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened. www.nato.int/cps/ua/natoh...

After nearly four years using Windows almost all the time, I have to retrain my fingers for the Mac keyboard. One positive thing is I'm enjoying my caps lock key being disabled again!

After more than 10 years, I’m finally getting a new laptop! Nice refurbished 2024 MacBook Air. But for the first time since 2005 I have zero stickers to put on it. And that just won’t do. Does anyone have cool stickers to share? This was one of my laptops from years ago flic.kr/p/4UVFTK

This is my entry in StickerGiant's laptop sticker contest. Come on this is my third laptop I've covered in stickers. That's gotta be worth something!

Part of that is practice, part is prep. I've using Cremo shave cream for a while. It's pretty good. Need to find a non-U.S. ones. And use a shaving brush that helps too. If you skip a few days do one quick shave then re-lather and shave again. Worth the time.

Henson is amazing. I was given one a while ago. Best safety razor I've ever used. It's really as easy as the ripoff razors. You don't need much practice either. I've been using safety razors on and off since like 2007 (?) from my days writing the men's grooming blog.
